Job summary

Veolia in North America seeks a Wastewater Operator to operate and maintain sludge, dewatering, treatment, disposal and testing equipment at an industrial facility to purify water to customer specifications.

You will learn and independently operate various equipment, work in a team, and use process control software to meet targets and ensure safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, and comprehend English (operational, process, safety, quality).
• Must perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain sludge, dewatering, and testing equipment to meet product specs.
• Operate pumps, centrifuges, generators, valves, conveyors, and related equipment.
• Work as part of a team and take on new responsibilities as needed.
• Use computer programs for process control.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Wastewater Operator operates and maintains sludge, dewatering treatment, processing, disposal and testing equipment in refinery/industrial facility to purify water to meet customer specifications.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently operate assigned machines and equipment meeting or exceeding processing and quality targets.
• Must demonstrate ability to learn and independently operate equipment such as pumps, engines, centrifuge, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses and measuring/control devices, testing equipment and material handling equipment.
• Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
• Must demonstrate a working ability to use computer programs for process control.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Some experience in a related position and environment preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions).
• Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

• Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
