Job summary

Smithfield Foods seeks a Wastewater Supervisor to oversee our wastewater treatment facility, ensuring compliance with permits and optimal operation. You will lead operators and technicians, coordinate sampling, and work with regulatory staff to meet standards.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, 2+ years’ experience, and credentials (Grade 4 Wastewater, Class I Water License). Relocation support is available and a fast-paced environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, health and safety or related field; 2+ years relevant experience.
• Lead experience: training, coaching or mentoring staff.
• Grade 4 Wastewater certification (or able to acquire within 18 months).
• Class I Water License (or able to acquire within 2 years).
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
• Willing to work long hours, weekends, and on-call status.

Responsibilities

• Oversee wastewater operations to ensure high-quality effluent and permit compliance.
• Conduct daily sampling and on-site analysis; manage Chain of Custody and lab invoicing.
• Collaborate with facility management and wastewater operations; lead a team of operators and technicians.
• Provide leadership, coaching and employee development to the team.
