Job summary

The City of Lansing is seeking a full-time Wastewater Maintenance Worker to support the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations and related groundskeeping tasks.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and at least four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with required safety certifications in place.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Four years of experience in maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment plant and/or pumping station equipment and facilities, or an equivalent combo of training and experience.
• Must pass and maintain multiple safety and certification requirements (MDOT Traffic Regulator, Confined Space, Powered Industrial Truck and Aerial Work Platform).

Responsibilities

• Monitor field pumping and regulator activities; enter stations as needed.
• Read instruments to ensure proper flow rates and operate pumps to prevent overflow.
• Respond to alarms, troubleshoot and propose solutions to operational problems.
