Job summary

American Water in Scranton, PA is hiring an Equipment Operator B to support wastewater treatment plant operations and related distribution/collection systems. The role focuses on hands-on maintenance, repair and construction tasks in a union environment.

The position requires a High School diploma, PA driver’s license, and willingness to work a 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. schedule with possible overtime. Starting pay is $30.67 per hour, with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid PA Driver's License.
• Experience operating/backhoe/loader/forklift desirable.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• OSHA confined space certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual labor in installing, repairing and maintaining lines, valves, meters, pumps and taps.
• Operate construction equipment to service, repair or replace sewer lines and related components.
• Ensure site and grounds at plants are clean and well-maintained.
• Follow safety procedures and traffic/safety regulations.
• Respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis as needed.
