Job summary

The Inland Group of Companies is hiring a Wastewater Equipment Operator to oversee the safe, 24/7 operation of wastewater processing equipment at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT. This full-time/part-time position supports environmental compliance and operational performance, with on-the-job training and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles in various weather.
• Pass airport security background checks including SIDA testing.
• Ability to complete required training programs on-site/on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety culture by following all safety policies, procedures, and standards, and encouraging shared responsibility for workplace safety.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater processing equipment to ensure efficient and reliable performance.
• Perform equipment inspections, troubleshooting, minor repairs, and facility support activities as required.
• Follow company procedures, operational plans, and management directives to ensure work is completed according to specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Complete confined space entry tasks in accordance with established safety procedures and training requirements.
• Maintain accurate awareness of operating conditions and respond appropriately to changing site needs.
• Contribute to the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of wastewater treatment activities and related equipment.

Position Overview: The Wastewater Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient 24/7 operation of wastewater processing equipment while supporting overall site performance, environmental compliance, and operational effectiveness. This role helps ensure the cost-effective use of facilities, equipment, labor, and other site assets while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and regulatory standards.

Location: BDL - BDL - Bradley International Airport Terminal B | Windsor locks, CT 06096

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):

• Promote a strong safety culture by following all safety policies, procedures, and standards, and encouraging shared responsibility for workplace safety.
• Support the company’s environmental commitments by helping minimize operational impacts on the environment and ensuring compliance with all environmental laws and permit requirements.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater processing equipment to ensure efficient and reliable performance.
• Perform equipment inspections, troubleshooting, minor repairs, and facility support activities as required.
• Follow company procedures, operational plans, and management directives to ensure work is completed according to specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Complete confined space entry tasks in accordance with established safety procedures and training requirements.
• Maintain accurate awareness of operating conditions and respond appropriately to changing site needs.
• Contribute to the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of wastewater treatment activities and related equipment.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to safely operate motorized vehicles in various weather conditions.
• Ability to successfully pass airport security background screening requirements, including SIDA Airside security testing.
• Ability to complete all required classroom and on-the-job training programs.
• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and communicating effectively.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedural documents.
• General mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely and effectively use hand tools.
• Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, teamwork, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while working within time-sensitive environments.

Additional Info:

• Full-time positions consist of 8-hour shifts with flexible scheduling, averaging 40 hours per week.
• Part-time positions consist of scheduled 8-hour shifts and may include nights, weekends, and other non-standard hours.
• No travel is anticipated for this position.
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
• Work is performed in a variety of outdoor conditions with frequent exposure to hot and cold weather; hearing protection is required.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, climb catwalks, lift up to 50 lbs., and work at heights of up to 15 feet when required.
• Must be able to pass a 10-year airport background check as a condition of obtaining airport security clearance.
