Bechtel is seeking a Waste Systems CSU Engineer in New Albany, OH. You will assist with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting waste collection and treatment systems for a semiconductor manufacturing facility, under senior engineers, with on-the-job training and mentoring.

The role emphasizes reading design documents, supporting safety programs, and coordinating with vendors, construction teams, and operations to ensure systems meet design requirements and are ready for handover.

Responsabilidades

Job Summary

The Waste Systems Commissioning and Startup (CSU) Engineer supports the start-up, testing, and troubleshooting of process waste collection and wastewater treatment systems serving a semiconductor manufacturing facility. Working under the direction of senior CSU engineers, you will assist with commissioning activities from construction completion through system handover to operations, while receiving on-the-job training and mentoring. The role helps verify that systems are installed correctly, meet design requirements, operate safely, and are ready for operations. This position works closely with engineering, construction, vendors, subcontractors, and operations teams.

Major Responsibilities

Commissioning Planning

• Assist in preparing waste system commissioning plans and procedures.
• Learn to read and use design documents, P&IDs, specifications, and vendor documentation for waste collection and treatment systems.
• Support development of commissioning schedules and turnover strategies.
• Attend design, safety, and operational readiness reviews as part of on-the-job training.

System Verification

• Help confirm waste system equipment, such as tanks, sumps, pumps, and treatment skids, is installed and tested as required, with guidance from senior engineers.
• Verify equipment labels, identification, and assets.
• Help collect and check piping installation and inspection records.
• Help collect and check pressure test and leak test records, including for double-contained piping and tanks.
• Assist in checking that safety interlocks and equipment protections work as intended.

Commissioning Execution

• Support waste system inspections and verification activities.
• Help check installation against approved drawings and specifications.
• Take part in field walkdowns and help track punch-list items.
• Support flushing, water testing, and initial startup of waste collection and treatment systems, and help record test results.
• Support system turnover from Construction to Commissioning.

Documentation and Quality

• Complete commissioning check sheets and help carry out commissioning procedures.
• Help prepare Mechanical Completion Certificates.
• Help assemble System Turnover Packages (STOs).
• Help collect subcontractor and vendor turnover documents, including test certifications.
• Enter and update information in commissioning databases and digital turnover systems.

Vendor and Contractor Coordination

• Support vendor representatives during equipment startups.
• Work with construction contractors and trade partners in the field.
• Help track commissioning progress and report technical issues to senior engineers.
• Participate in daily coordination meetings.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow and support lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Participate in Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews.
• Follow project EHS requirements, including safe handling of chemicals and process waste.
• Promote a zero-incident safety culture.

Required Knowledge And Skills

• Basic ability to read P&IDs, drawings, and equipment data sheets, or willingness to learn.
• Basic understanding of pumps, tanks, valves, and piping systems; exposure to wastewater treatment or chemical handling systems is a plus.
• Interest in learning how process waste is collected, treated, and monitored in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Awareness of lockout/tagout (LOTO) and basic field safety practices.
• Willingness to learn through training and mentoring, and to work in an active construction and commissioning environment, including field walkdowns and wearing required personal protective equipment.
