Rural Staffing Services partners with rural hospitals, clinics, public hospital districts, community health centers, and healthcare organizations throughout Washington to identify experienced advanced practice providers who understand the importance of serving rural communities.

We are currently connecting with professionals interested in active and upcoming nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nurse midwife, and other advanced practice opportunities across Washington.

These opportunities may include positions within Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, public hospital districts, community hospitals, outpatient clinics, specialty practices, long-term care organizations, and integrated rural healthcare systems.

This Is More Than an APP Role

Advanced practice providers are essential to healthcare access in rural communities.

They may serve as primary care providers, support emergency and inpatient services, strengthen specialty programs, care for patients across the lifespan, and help communities maintain services that might otherwise be difficult to sustain.

The strongest rural APPs are collaborative, adaptable, clinically confident, and comfortable building trusted relationships with patients, families, physicians, nurses, staff, and community partners.

Some opportunities may offer a traditional clinic schedule. Others may include inpatient coverage, call, specialty care, leadership responsibilities, per diem work, or short-term support during a staffing gap.

What You May Do

Responsibilities will vary by organization and opportunity and may include:

• Providing safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
• Evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and managing patients within the scope of the role
• Supporting primary care, urgent care, emergency, inpatient, specialty, or behavioral health services
• Providing preventive care, chronic disease management, and patient education
• Collaborating with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, and other members of the care team
• Supporting continuity of care across hospital, clinic, and community settings
• Participating in call, weekend, or rotating coverage when required
• Providing short-term or per diem support during vacancies, leave, or increased demand
• Helping expand access to care in rural and underserved communities
• Supporting quality, safety, documentation, and regulatory standards
• Participating in care coordination, referrals, and transitions of care
• Building trusted relationships with patients, families, employees, and community partners
• Considering a permanent opportunity when the position and community are the right fit

What You Will Bring

Qualifications will vary by opportunity, but organizations may seek:

• Current nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or applicable advanced practice licensure
• Eligibility for Washington licensure
• National certification in the relevant specialty
• Current DEA registration when required
• Relevant clinical experience
• Strong communication, collaboration, and professional judgment
• The ability to work independently while remaining connected to the broader care team
• Experience serving rural, underserved, or medically complex populations
• Experience with Critical Access Hospitals, Rural Health Clinics, FQHCs, public hospital districts, or community healthcare organizations
• A patient-centered, dependable, and community-minded approach
