Job summary

The New York Post is seeking a Washington Correspondent based in DC to cover the fast-moving world of Washington politics, break exclusive stories, and bring readers sharp, authoritative coverage of how policy decisions in the capital shape the nation.

This role requires a reporter who can cultivate sources, file timely copy, and collaborate with editors to deliver compelling coverage across digital platforms. Strong editorial judgment and resilience under deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum seven years of newsroom reporting experience, with a focus on DC or political coverage.
• Experience writing about the White House and Congress and building sources within the Trump administration.
• Proven ability to break news, cultivate sources, and deliver original, high-impact reporting.
• Strong editorial judgment and writing skills under tight deadlines.
• Experience using digital tools, FOIA, and open-source reporting techniques.
• On-camera experience and comfort presenting stories across platforms strongly preferred.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as news demands.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with editors and colleagues to produce fast, engaging coverage across digital and social platforms.

Base Pay Range: $90,000 - $110,000 We’re committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.
