Job summary

An environmental consulting firm is seeking a Washington Aquaculture Support professional to conduct environmental impact analyses and assist agencies with regulatory documentation. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in aquatic biology and experience in shellfish and finfish aquaculture. Strong communication and writing skills are essential. The role includes both office duties and occasional field visits, offering comprehensive benefits such as healthcare and a 401(k) retirement plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years’ experience or Master’s degree with two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience assessing impacts of human activities on marine, estuarine or anadromous species.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze data to determine environmental impacts on aquatic habitats.
  • Write Biological Opinions and responses to action agencies.
  • Prepare environmental documentation pursuant to NEPA.
  • Coordinate with NMFS engineers for design reviews.

Skills

Knowledge of salmonid general life cycles and habitat requirements
Experience with shellfish, finfish and seaweed aquaculture
Highly proficient English language composition and editing skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Skill in most common software applications

Education

Bachelor's degree in aquatic biology or related field
Master's degree (preferred)
