EMJ, a leading metals supplier, is seeking a Warehouse Material Handler 1 in Eldridge, IA. The role involves pulling, filling, cutting orders and managing inventory and shipping tasks within plant operations.

You will operate basic equipment, verify material specs, and maintain a safe warehouse environment while supporting distribution activities for metals products.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of warehousing or material handling experience.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License preferred.
• Ability to obtain certification to operate motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
• Clear oral and written communication; legible handwriting.
• Manual dexterity, coordination, and physical fitness to operate heavy equipment.
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and blueprints.
• Basic math and measurement skills, including fractions and conversions.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task effectively, and make sound decisions.
• Teamwork and collaboration with supervisors and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Move inventory and operate equipment to fill customer orders and shipments.
• Receive and return items into stock locations.
• Read and decipher work orders; verify heat numbers and material specifications.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, side loaders, yard trucks, saws, and other heavy equipment as required.
• Place materials into storage or remove them for order fulfillment.
• Tag material for identification and complete documentation.
• Sort and place materials by size, type or product code.
• Coordinate with team to ensure safe machine and equipment operations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Perform spot checks on inventory and restock as needed.
• Drive company vehicle for local deliveries and parts pickup (non-DOT).

Job Summary

This position falls under the Plant job family and includes responsibilities related to metals processing and distribution within the company. The Warehouse Material Handler is responsible for pulling, filling, cutting orders, and handling inventory and shipping tasks. The role requires basic equipment operation and practical knowledge of materials, facilities, and operations used in metals distribution. Tasks include reading job orders, verifying material, operating machines and equipment, and maintaining safety and order in the warehouse environment.
