MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to lift and/or carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) long distances (more than 20 feet). Must be willing to work in undesirable locations/conditions Must have the ability to obtain and maintain certification as a forklift operator. Must possess good communication and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and supervisory skills. Must have a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle CDL operator’s license with endorsements compatible with assigned duties of Cherokee County Board of Education.

GOAL

Assist in the shipping, receiving, storage and distribution of supplies and equipment, ensure safe operations and driving procedures and supervise assigned staff as required. Work is performed independently or in teams, and workers are responsible for determining appropriate work methods, tools, and materials for most assignments. Work involves serving as a crew leader for specified projects. Work is performed according to general or specific instructions from the Warehouse Operations Supervisor or Lead Warehouseman.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive supplies and equipment at the warehouse as assigned and assist in palletizing and moving of materials to assigned storage areas.

  • Coordinate and supervise the loading and unloading of trucks and delivery of materials and supplies as assigned in a safe, efficient and accurate manner.

  • Direct the work of other skilled or semi-skilled staff for specified projects.

  • Mentor new and existing staff in work methods to ensure conformance with accepted standards including all ADA code requirements.

  • Pass yearly CDL physical and license updates as required by Georgia Department of Transportation; annual Motor Vehicle Report Check approval.

  • Transfer food and equipment for schools as requested by Warehouse Operations Supervisor or Lead Warehouseman.

  • Maintain accurate records while completing assigned delivery routes.

  • Determine efficient routing when completing tasks at multiple locations.

  • Load/unload trucks and deliver materials/supplies in a safe, efficient manner; assist in palletizing, handling and moving materials.

  • Perform required pre-trip inspections of vehicles, and report deficiencies related to assignments and state and federal driving regulations.

  • Assemble furniture and equipment as assigned.

  • Select proper items from stock for shipment; load pallets securely, and move selected items to holding or shipping area, as necessary.

  • Assist in the removal of excess materials and equipment from schools/departments and dispose of in accordance with Board policy and established procedures.

  • Maintain work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.

  • Supervise and assist in delivery of textbooks and other learning materials with Instructional Materials Department.

  • Assume lead roles and responsibility for special assignments as designated by Warehouse Operations Supervisor or Lead Warehouseman.

  • Complete all projects in a competent manner and ensure proper recording of time and materials.

  • Operate board-owned vehicle in a safe manner and assume responsibility for all supplies and equipment on the vehicle.

  • Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license, certificate and/or credential as may be required for this position.

  • Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.

  • Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.

  • Review current developments, literature and technical source information related to job responsibilities.

  • Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.

  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
