Warehouseman 2nd Shift
Responsible for performing any combination of duties and tasks to support the receiving, storing, processing, packaging, and distribution of steel products.
Physical Requirements
Walk, move, traverse; stand or sit; climb stairs/ladders; balance; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk/hear; see; pushing or pulling; repetitive motion; reaching.
Function in the Job
Medium/Heavy work – exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform any of the following tasks to receive, store, and distribute material, tools, and equipment.
- Receive, move, gather, package, or distribute material.
- Package material per work order instructions.
- Gather material by hand, machine, forklift, or crane and use strapping tools to band product together for shipment.
- Mark material with identifying information or attach identifying tags or labels; spray paint material, structures, and equipment according to identification or specifications.
- Clean work area, machines, and equipment using broom, shovel, rags, vacuum, and cleaning compounds.
- Complete daily safety inspections on cranes and forklifts.
- Stage rail cars inside building for unloading and stage them outside of building for removal.
- Perform all additional tasks assigned by Supervisor and/or Manager.
All of the above functions are completed with a variety of hand and power tools and computer equipment while observing production and safety standards to aid PDM Steel Service in remaining fully competitive in its chosen markets.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, equipment and tools used in the material handling process.
- Working knowledge of computerized production systems, products, and inventory.
- Knowledge of applicable safety rules and regulations related to material, equipment, and processes.
Skills
- 1 year of experience on a variety of work assignments as a warehouseman or equivalent.
- Use considerable judgment and discretion in performing, demonstrating, and directing duties.
- Read and interpret work orders and instructions.
- Maintain records related to work performed using manual and computerized record keeping systems.
- Provide training and instruction to laborers/helpers.
- Analyze and respond to emergency situations.
- Read, write, and communicate with others.
- Demonstrate the ability to use tools and equipment needed to measure and band for shipping.
