Job Description

This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members prepare for and respond to disasters; and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church.

This role involves working level duties in receiving, storing, and/or shipping functions. Responsibilities include stocking materials, inspecting and counting incoming items, rejecting damaged goods, maintaining records, and operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.

Responsibilities

1. Initiate, prioritize, and monitor daily workload.
2. Receive stock from suppliers and manage inventory control.
3. Prepare pallets for shipment, load and unload trucks.
4. Operate material handling equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks; may require a valid operator license.
5. Coordinate receipt, movement, and inventory control with vendors and departments, maintaining a computer-based system.
6. Review shipment documentation, check for damages, and follow up on shortages.
7. Provide leadership and training to volunteers and staff in warehousing practices and safety.
8. Maintain equipment and perform building and grounds maintenance.

Qualifications

Requires a High School diploma, intermediate computer and math skills, and at least 2 years of warehousing or related experience. Preference for those with internal Church warehousing experience and experience operating motorized handling equipment. Must be physically capable of lifting/moving items up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs with assistance), climbing ladders, and operating a pallet jack. Good interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills are essential. Familiarity with warehouse management systems is a plus.
