Job summary

Hawkins, Inc. is seeking a warehouse/operator to load bulk and van trailers, fill containers, and perform general warehouse duties. Responsibilities include testing products, handling hazardous materials for DOT shipment, and maintaining safe, organized work areas.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, basic MS Office skills, and at least 6 months of chemical operator experience. A forklift license and 40-hour HAZWOPER certification are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate complex and/or technical operations in terms easily understood by non-technical operators required.
• Ability to safely operate an industrial fork truck required.
• Must achieve 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification.
• Ability to lift 50-100 lb. sacks regularly.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position loads bulk and van trailers, fills containers, conducts warehouse work including shipping and receiving.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Load/unload trucks & rail cars
• Operate motorized lifts
• Handle, label, and fill containers
• Test products to ensure high quality product is made to customer specifications.
• Maintain/monitor area standards for cleanliness and operation
• Perform inventory counts
• Participate in emergency response
• Prepare hazardous materials for DOT shipment
• Batch Blending
• IBC washing/reconditioning
• Other duties as required

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office required.
• Minimum of 6 months experience as a chemical operator or equivalent experience required
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills required
• Ability to communicate (both written and verbal) complex and/or technical operations and procedures in terms easily understood by non-technical operators required.
• Ability to safely operate an industrial fork truck required
• Ability to comply with all mandatory Environmental, Health, & Safety and process specific training and participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team in Level A PPE required.
• Ability to achieve and maintain 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification required
• Ability to lift 50-100 lb. sacks and supersacks on a regular basis required
• Ability to adjust to work schedule, including weekends and on-call, to meet business need required.
• Minimum of 6 months of previous MRP or ERP experience preferred; prior JD Edwards experience strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
• Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing,
• walking, climbing, bending, pushing, reaching, and pulling
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs and ladders
• Ability to wear PPE and equipment such as safety shoes, face shields, safety glasses, safety
• goggles, hearing protection, gloves and a hard hat; chemical suits and a hair/beard net when required
• Ability to safely operate an industrial forklift when required
• Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements (for respirator use, SQF-certified environments, etc.)
• Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
• Willing to work around chemicals and industrial machinery

Expected Compensation: $20.00/hr. + 5% Bonus Eligibility
