Job summary

Texas State University in San Marcos seeks a Warehouse Worker to oversee the receipt, storage, and delivery of materials ordered by the University.

The role requires knowledge of purchase orders and packing lists, strong organizational skills, ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and competence with Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and mainframe systems. Normal hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

  • Able to operate a delivery van and process purchase orders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee materials receipt, storage, and delivery.
  • Maintain records for materials received and delivered.
  • Prepare/complete work orders and purchase orders.
  • Assign deliveries to receiving personnel and oversee freight.
  • Coordinate with vendors on discrepancies.
  • Supervise student workers as required.

Knowledge of:
  • Purchase orders, packing lists, and written instructions, including their description and definition
  • Standard warehouse processes and procedures
Skilled in:
  • Basic computer knowledge, Outlook email, Microsoft teams, using a mainframe
  • Communicating with a variety of people
  • Prioritizing daily workload and managing time
  • Organizing tasks and organizing the work of others
  • Problem-solving and decision making
  • Using maintenance management systems
Ability to:
  • Work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Understand written job instructions
  • Complete request forms, telephone messages, and notes
  • Process purchase orders
  • Perform basic math and compare and verify columns of numbers

Job Description:

Oversee the tasks of employees handling the receipt, storage, and delivery of various materials ordered by the University.

Job Duties:
  • Oversee the maintenance of records for materials received and delivered to the receiving department.
  • Handle the preparation of completed work orders and purchase orders.
  • Oversee the assignment of completed package deliveries.
  • Handle the logging and processing of freight.
  • Aid in resolving issues with problem purchase orders.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding discrepancies in received merchandise.
  • Assign afternoon deliveries to available receiving personnel.
  • Complete work orders of Setups, office moves, and surplus property pick-up and delivery.
  • Oversee student workers as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
