Job summary

Hajoca is seeking a non-CDL Delivery Driver to operate trucks safely and deliver merchandise to various locations, including job sites and customer facilities. The role includes loading and unloading cargo, ensuring secure loads, collecting payments for cash deliveries, and coordinating with customers to resolve any discrepancies.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-conscious, able to work independently, and proficient in English.

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
• Be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license.
• Pass a Department of Transportation physical exam before start and every two years thereafter.
• Have a driving record meeting Company policy criteria for Authorized Driver.
• Understand shipping documents and have accurate delivery directions.
• Complete safety and compliance training programs as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Load truck with Hajoca merchandise at the Profit Center and secure the load.
• Deliver to job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations as directed.
• Unload merchandise and obtain legible signatures per policy.
• Collect payments for cash sale deliveries prior to release of merchandise.
• Resolve shipping discrepancies with customers at delivery sites.
• Perform receiving, shipping, and other warehouse duties as directed.

Job description

About the Role:

You will:

• Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations. Destinations include job sites, customer facilities, vendor facilities, other Hajoca locations, facilities of other wholesalers, or other locations as directed by management.
• Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered. Secure the load properly so that nothing will shift, get damaged, or fall from the truck. Ensure that the necessary equipment to safely unload the merchandise is available. Perform receiving, shipping, and other warehouse duties at the direction of management
• Perform receiving, shipping, and other warehouse duties at the direction of management.
• Understand the shipping documents that are associated with the merchandise for each delivery and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
• Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.

• Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it. Obtain legible signature for all merchandise delivered per Company policy and procedure.
• Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries prior to releasing the material to the customer.
• Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.

• Load the truck at other locations with merchandise. This includes merchandise picked up at vendor locations, returned by customers, and purchased from other wholesalers.
• Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses discovered in the course of making deliveries.
• Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition prior to departure from the Hajoca location. Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body.
• Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck. At the end of the workday, complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.

• At the end of the workday, remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location.
• Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
• Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

About You:

• Be able to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs. As a non-CDL driver, you must:
  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
