The role requires 2+ years of leadership in warehousing, familiarity with 5S/lean principles, and PIT equipment certification within 90 days. Strong safety mindset and hands‑on people leadership are essential.

Job description

Warehouse Supervisor

This role follows a night shift schedule, working from 5:30 PM to 4:30 AM with designated days off on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the warehouse team for their shift, ensuring that each required task is executed and conducted properly and safely. They are also responsible for anticipating and troubleshooting issues as they arise and managing the performance of warehouse leads and associates on their shift with little guidance, using all information available and collaborating with other stakeholders as needed.

Detailed Responsibilities
  • Supervision of Core Warehouse Functions
    • Receiving
      • Works with leads, receivers, and associates to monitor receiving activities to ensure accuracy and integrity of product and dock maintenance.
      • Escalates issues with facility spaces or powered industrial trucks to the Maintenance team via established reporting systems.
      • Ensures WMS compliance from receipt through putaway to storage.
      • Completes all receiving processes in accordance with SOP, adapting plans and communicating effectively to the team as needed.
      • Communicates any variances or issues immediately, establishing a clear follow‑up timeline for root cause analysis and ensuring retraining as needed.
      • Conducts audits of receiving and putaway processes to ensure accuracy and compliance, providing immediate feedback to team members.
      • Assesses efficiency of receiving activities and works with receivers and putaway teams to improve workflow when tasks are not completed at expected pace.
    • Issuing Product to Production
      • Ensures full utilization of WMS for product moves to and from the production/shipping floor.
      • Familiarizes themselves with all trackers and inventory items to verify production needs.
      • Stays abreast of e‑mails and other communications directing changes to products due to shorts, delivery delays, or quality issues, communicating to the warehouse team promptly.
      • Utilizes the warehouse drop list to pull product for the production floor.
      • Ensures product is placed in the correct quantity and location on the floor per WMS and follows up when not meeting expectations.
      • Upholds standard procedures for staging product in coolers and freezers when applicable.
      • Reads boxing call‑out sheets and distinguishes assigned meats for meals to clarify processes.
      • Works with the warehouse lead to ensure progress against task lists.
      • Collaborates with production management to problem‑solve when warehouse responsibilities impact production efficiency.
      • Conducts end‑of‑shift walkthroughs to ensure all cleanup duties are completed and items are returned to designated locations. Documents and communicates the recap to the warehouse team.
      • Conducts audits of storage to ensure putback process adheres to requirements.
    • Shipping
      • Verifies pallet shipping sheets and admin shipping lists for proper documentation and scanning of shipped cases.
      • Coordinates with the logistics provider to manage pick‑ups, ensuring accurate loading for outbounds via the Outbound Trailer Scheduler.
      • Ensures standard processes for tagging, storage, and loading of outbound pallets are followed.
      • Verifies all special out‑bounds, such as transfers, for accuracy of load and documentation uploaded per SOP.
      • Audits load sheets completed by loaders for accuracy.
      • Communicates remaining doors for pick‑up and ensures BOLs are completed and uploaded; prepares and leaves load sheets for the incoming shift if pending.
      • Logs all trailer pickups in pallet shipping sheets and ensures uploads for reference.
      • Ensures hourly dock checks are completed to prevent missed dock outs and escalates issues to logistics or management for follow‑up.
  • Supervision of Warehouse Personnel
    • Adheres to safety procedures and works with associates to create a safety‑first work environment.
    • Develops an environment conducive to teamwork and collaboration.
    • Communicates job expectations clearly and builds departmental standards for performance.
    • Lives the Home Chef Values and models Home Chef Competencies.
    • Manages attendance reports, following up on assigned points and coaching.
    • Conducts rotational check‑ins with all team members to ensure progress against task lists and communicates performance expectations.
    • Works with team leads and associates to problem‑solve; ensures immediate and long‑term solutions are implemented, and escalates issues for cross‑shift sharing.
    • Ensures all associates are trained to safely move materials; audits the team during daily interactions and floor presence.
    • Ensures all associates are trained in standard operating procedures and the P.I.T. checklists for pre‑shift equipment checks.
    • Ensures all associates use WMS, driving daily accuracy and efficiency.
    • Conducts performance evaluations for leads and associates in a detailed and timely manner.
    • Coaches through positive reinforcement or constructive feedback, maintaining a record of coaching actions.
    • Develops team leads to effectively oversee the daily routines of their assigned members.
    • Works with the warehouse manager to manage scheduling and time‑off requests.
  • Communication and Coordination
    • Manages coordination with other departments for scheduled deliveries, pick‑ups, and any discrepancies that could negatively impact customer deliveries.
    • Serves as the shift‑level point of contact for logistics providers and other departments.
    • Executes shift handoff, communicating with both warehouse team and other departments.
    • Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continuous improvement within the department and the company.
  • General Responsibilities
    • Follows facility GMPs and safety policies, enforcing them throughout the facility.
    • Supports the company’s food safety system (SQF) and quality programs, ensuring all areas score at or above established standards.

This position requires 0% travel.

Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Computer proficiency to execute transactions and enter counts/corrections required.
  • Ability to use handheld data logging equipment.
  • Has supervised at least 10–15 employees.
  • Has 2+ years of warehouse experience in a leadership role.
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing principles highly desired.
  • Familiar with and becomes certified to use all P.I.T. equipment within 90 days of employment.
  • General high school degree or equivalent (e.g., GED).
