Job summary

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Requirements: high school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus, associate’s degree, technical school, military training or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

The employee has to have the ability to read and comprehend reports and instructions, shipping/receiving paperwork, short correspondence, and memos. The employee must have the ability to write simple correspondence. The employee must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

The employee must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The employee must have the ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

The employee must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems, trouble shoot, and analytically solve situations in the plant.

LEADERSHIP ABILITY:

The employee must have the ability to lead others by demonstrating proper procedures and speed, addressing interpersonal issues, training new employees, directing and coaching employees.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic Computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel), and other internal programs are required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and reach with hands and arms and is frequently required to walk. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee is required to stand on his/her feet for approximately 9 hours every day. Employee will be occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and regularly lift up to 25 pounds with some lifting to be overhead.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee will be exposed to variation of temperature from ambient air temperature to -20o F. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and for safety reasons hearing protection is mandatory in all areas of the facility except break rooms and offices.

AVAILABILITY:

The employee has to have flexibility in their scheduling to work more than 9 hours a day and more than 5 days a week when business needs dictate.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Comply with and enforce all safety rules.
  2. Follows and ensures that all food safety, GMP’s, HACCP procedures and any other company policies are followed in department.
  3. Communicate with operations and Plant Manager on a daily basis.
  4. Stay in touch with new projects, products and testing.
  5. Schedule appointments for Maple Donuts trucks and call dispatchers to check for customer truck arrivals.
  6. Ability to drive and back tractor-trailers into spots as well as load and unload trucks.
  7. Ability to drive a fork truck and all types of pallet moving equipment and operate battery charging equipment safely.
  8. Assist in ensuring fleet trucks and trailers are in working condition and communicate with Material Handlers to make sure equipment is maintained in good order. Communicate with Maintenance or Transportation when issues are noticed.
  9. Track department equipment owned by company and determine future needs. Includes but not limited to warehouse forklifts and dock doors.
  10. Assist and arrange local corrugated, retail supplies, ice, and other supplies needed for operations as needed.
  11. Control inventory by creating and analyzing reports of inventory for warehouse.
  12. Assist in ensuring we have necessary ingredients and packaging for production.
  13. Ensure a FIFO rotation is utilized in receiving.
  14. Maintain the warehouse and loading docks to a high level of cleanliness. Ensure Material Handler areas throughout plant are maintained clean, organized.
  15. Coordinate maintenance of equipment, follow-up to daily inspection reports.
  16. Provide leadership and direction to hourly personnel.
  17. Daily audits of procedures and paperwork of personnel.
  18. Write performance reviews and employee write-ups.
  19. Train new forklift and hand jack drivers and do required observations.
  20. Ensure cross-training and back-ups for Material Handlers.
  21. Accurately perform month-end inventories.
  22. Properly fill-out any paperwork or check sheets.
  23. Set-up lines for start-up.
  24. Hands on work when leads need support: vacation, call offs, etc.
  25. Hands on knowledge and proficiency with unloading bulk flour and bulk oil trucks.
  26. Perform basic mechanical repairs as necessary.
  27. Maintain necessary computer skills.
  28. Assist with any needs of anyone/anywhere when known.
  29. Perform all other duties deemed necessary by upper management.
