Job summary

Metropolitan Warehouse and Delivery in Perth Amboy, NJ seeks a Warehouse Supervisor to lead daily warehouse operations, manage labor and scheduling, and ensure safe handling and accurate inventory.

Job Summary:

The Warehouse Supervisor serves as a leader and provides guidance for all warehouse labor duties. Responsible for directing daily activities of the warehouse including labor, scheduling, and supervision of day-to-day operations. Oversees and provides training to warehouse associates following Metropolitan’s set standards and quality guidelines for loading, unloading, packaging and scan discipline. Oversees inventory levels, monitors the safety of goods, and ensures the efficient usage of warehouse space. Assigns tasks and aids Warehouse Manager with all shipping and receiving responsibilities. Assists and provides guidance for different warehouse duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs daily activities of the warehouse including labor, scheduling and supervision of all day-to-day operations
  • Oversees inventory levels, monitors the safety of goods, and ensures the efficient usage of warehouse space
  • Supervises and provides training to all associates following Metropolitan’s set standards and quality guidelines for loading, unloading, packaging, scan discipline, etc.
  • Monitors and evaluates the safety of each Warehouse Associate on a daily basis. Trains on safety processes as needed
  • Leads daily stand up with all Senior and Team Leads updating all warehouse associates with daily goals and tasks
  • Develops effective relationships with Warehouse Associates and provide strong leadership
  • Notifies Warehouse Manager of any Associate issues and tracks Associate’s attendance and performance
  • Assures all product is handled in a safe and professional manner
  • Assumes the Warehouse Manager’s responsibilities when the Warehouse Manager is absent
  • Meets all outbound and inbound load deadlines. Assures all loads are 100% complete with no partial orders shipped
  • Coordinates with other Shift Warehouse Supervisors, setting up the workload for next shift start
  • Minimizes Warehouse Associate OT
  • Walks the warehouse frequently to assure items are placed in correct location and scanned
  • Keeps warehouse clean and free of any trash or debris
  • Assures all unload and load reports are properly completed upon turn in
  • Assists with different warehouse duties as needed

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory or warehouse lead experience desired
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of previous inventory control experience desired
  • Ability to understand inventory processes
  • Experience working with furniture preferred
  • Proven leadership and organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate others and work with a variety of people
  • Ability to lead large groups of individuals in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Warehouse Management System (WMS) experience

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Pushing and Pulling: Ability to push and pull wheeled carts or pallet jacks loaded with merchandise
  • Bending, Stooping, and Reaching: Ability to bend stoop, and reach overhead frequently
  • Physical Stamina: Demonstrate physical stamina and endurance to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and manipulate small parts or delicate items with precision
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when necessary to address urgentoperational needs
