Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is hiring a Warehouse Selector I to join our Newark, NJ area distribution team. You will pick products, load trucks, and move goods between the dock and warehouse using reach trucks and pallet jacks.

The role offers a training wage, a production wage, and a sign-on bonus up to $1,000 based on experience. 1st shift runs 10-hour days, with strong benefits after 60 days and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to perform accurate visual inspections and lift 50+ pounds repeatedly.
• Distribution warehouse experience with reach truck, pallet jack, and forklift preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for safety and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Select product and load trucks, move items between dock and warehouse.
• Operate in Dry, Refrigerated, Perishables, Freezer areas as needed.
• Wear freezer gear provided by McLane and ensure safety.
• Review documents and verify quantity, identity, availability, and condition.
• Drive reach truck and pallet jack to pick and stack products.
• Hand-stack when off balance or mislocated items.
• Shrink-wrap and label outgoing orders; remove wrap from incoming orders.
• Maintain a clean work area and perform other duties as assigned.

• Pay rate: Training - 21.50 per hour, 100% Production - $26.00 per hour, with potential of additional pay incentives.
• Sign-on bonus: Up to $1,000, depending on experience.

What you’ll do as a Warehouse Selector:

• Select product and load trucks, moving product between the loading dock and the warehouse and moving product within the warehouse.
• May work in various areas of the warehouse such as Dry, Refrigerated, Perishables, Freezer, and others.
• McLane provides freezer suits, hats, and gloves to you.
• Review documents and record information; verify quantity, identity, availability, and condition of product.
• Drive and operate a reach truck and pallet jack to select, pull, sort, and stack product within the warehouse and dock.
• Hand-stack product on occasion when items are off balance or in the wrong location.
• Shrink-wrap and label outgoing orders and remove shrink wrap from incoming orders.
• Clean work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you’ll bring as a Warehouse Teammate:

• At least 18 years of age.
• Able to perform accurate visual inspections and repeatedly lift to 50 pounds or more.
• At least 1 year of distribution warehouse experience, including operation of reach truck, pallet jack, and forklift is preferred, but not required.
• This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
