Job summary

Akima Global Logistics (AGL) in Fort Drum, NY seeks a Warehouse Specialist to perform receiving, storage, accountability, and distribution of Army equipment turn-ins, ensuring proper documentation and safe handling.

The role requires knowledge of Army procedures, supply regulations, and ISO 9001:2015 practices; you will support multiple teams, operate forklifts and MHE, and contribute to audits and PARs while maintaining accurate logs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in logistics or supply preferred.
• 2–4 years of warehouse, supply, or logistics experience (Army or contractor preferred).
• Familiarity with Army turn-in and supply procedures highly desirable.
• Army supply/property accountability regulations (AR 710-2, AR 735-5, DA PAM 710-21).
• Army logistics systems (GCSS-Army, LMP, DPAS).
• Material handling and warehouse safety practices.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and process Army documentation (DA and DD forms).
• Forklift/MHE operation certification (OF 346) preferred.
• Strong organizational, recordkeeping, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work in high-tempo, large-volume turn-in environments.
• Basic proficiency in the English language (reading and writing).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Must have a valid driver’s license with proof of vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

• Receive and verify equipment and materiel turned in from Army units.
• Check turn-in documents (DA Form 1348-1A, DD Form 200, hand receipts) for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist in inspection and condition coding of items before storage or disposition.
• Coordinate staging and movement of items into designated warehouse or yard areas.
• Store, organize, and maintain items in warehouse locations in compliance with DA PAM 710-2-1 and AR 735-5.
• Perform location surveys, bin checks, and cyclic inventories to maintain accountability.
• Maintain segregation of serviceable, unserviceable, HAZMAT, and sensitive items.
• Support preparation for Property Accountability Reviews (PARs) and audits.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other MHE to safely move and stage equipment.
• Ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and compliance with environmental regulations.
• Assist in packaging, labeling, and preparing equipment for shipment or redistribution.
• Input and update property transactions in Army logistics systems such as GCSS-Army, DPAS, or LMP.
• Maintain warehouse logs, inventory control sheets, and daily activity records.
• Support audit readiness through accurate recordkeeping in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
• Provide assistance to unit supply personnel delivering equipment to the site.
• Resolve discrepancies in documentation and coordinate corrections with supervisors.
• Support coordination with transportation personnel for outbound shipments.
• Employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to travel within the United States as required. This position may require up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities
As directed, the Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment\'s storage plan. Work involves most of the following: verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment. This worker may operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties. Note: Exclude workers whose primary duties involve shipping and receiving work (see Shipping/Receiving Clerk), order filling (see Order Filler), or operating forklifts (see Forklift Operator).

Physical Demands & Working Environment

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform routine standing, walking, bending, and reaching tasks in warehouse and field environments.
• Must also meet all physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties, including working in extreme heat or cold, high, or low humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, heights, and other inclement weather conditions.
• This position involves working both indoors and outdoors, periodic overtime, and exposure to heat, dust, cold, and adverse weather conditions.
