Description

The Hill Top Energy Center in Carmichaels, PA, is a state-of-the-art combined cycle power generation facility. It features a GE 7HA.02 gas turbine and an Alstom D652 steam turbine, operating together to optimize efficiency and output. The plant is capable of producing up to 623 megawatts of electricity, significantly contributing to the regional power supply.

Opportunity Summary

The Warehouse Specialist at Hill Top Energy Center supports efficient plant operations by receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and tracking materials while maintaining accurate inventory and CMMS records. This role coordinates procurement and order tracking, stages parts for maintenance activities, safely operates material handling equipment, and supports inventory audits and reporting.

Your scope of responsibility as Warehouse Specialist includes the following primary functions:

  • Ensure accurate entry, proofing, and submission of purchase orders, including proper product costing, shipping instructions, and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Maintain records of all fixed assets and purchase requisitions, obtaining necessary approvals and signatures.
  • Communicate directly with vendors to track order status, follow up on deliveries, and resolve any shipment issues.
  • Receive, inspect, document, store, and issue all items, materials, and equipment, ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Maintain and utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for inventory control, tracking transfers, and reporting.
  • Maintain inventory of all goods through counting, sorting, and organizing; ensure efficient warehouse layout and accessibility.
  • Effectively communicate warehouse conditions, stock levels, and material availability to plant management.
  • Assist Maintenance with mechanical and electrical repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Prepare and stage parts kits or materials to support Maintenance work orders, repairs, and planned outages.
  • Operate forklifts, trucks, and vans for material movement, loading, and unloading in a safe and efficient manner; maintain forklift certification.
  • Maintain records of fixed assets, purchase requisitions, and inventory levels, support audits, surveys, and reporting.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by plant management.

Working Relationships

The Warehouse Specialist reports to the Maintenance Manager, takes general direction from plant management and coordinates with all other plant personnel as needed in support of the daily operation of the plant.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.

Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.

Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.

Fitness for Duty

All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.

Work Schedule

The Warehouse Specialist works a standard Monday to Friday day-shift schedule. This position will require extended hours, flexible shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability as needed to support plant operations and business needs.

Compensation

This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $32.00 to $38.00 per hour, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

Core Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, with the ability to understand and follow procedures and instructions. An associate degree or technical training in supply chain, logistics, industrial operations, or a related field is preferred. Relevant industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of additional education.
  • Proven experience overseeing warehouse operations in industrial or power plant environments, including inventory control, storage, distribution, shipping, and receiving of parts, chemicals, and safety equipment.
  • At least one year of experience in a mechanical trade or industrial environment is preferred, with hands-on experience in equipment handling, maintenance support, or technical operations.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory tracking systems and best practices, including cycle counts and physical inventories, with the ability to optimize warehouse layout for efficiency.
  • Valid forklift certification and experience safely operating forklifts, trucks, and vans for loading, unloading, and moving materials and equipment in compliance with safety standards; able to maintain certification in good standing.
  • Familiarity with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations as they relate to warehouse operations, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Proficient in procurement processes, including supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, purchase order management, and collaboration with Operations and Maintenance teams; experienced in conducting audits, surveys, and managing supplier performance.
  • Skilled in using computerized accounting, inventory control, and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for procurement, reporting, and overall warehouse management; general accounting experience is desirable.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills, with keen attention to detail; able to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
