Pioneer Metal Finishing in Union City, California, is hiring a Shipping and Receiving Associate for a first-shift role. Pay starts at $18.00 per hour with quarterly bonuses, performance reviews after 90 days, and same-day pay options.

The position supports production in a manufacturing/warehouse setting, focusing on accuracy, safety, and timely shipping and receiving operations. The role requires basic forklift/pallet jack operation, attention to detail, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift and pallet jack (5% of the role).
• Ability to accurately count products and review shipping and receiving documentation.
• Regular exposure to sharp skid corners, utility knives, sharp tools, ladders, moving heavy loads, forklifts.
• Employees must follow safety procedures and wear PPE.
• Excellent communication and high level of detail and coordination with internal and external parties.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform duties safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Receive in Purchase Orders and verify goods against documentation including part numbers, quantities, weights, and dimensions.
• Report damaged materials or discrepancies to Customer Service.
• Count items manually or by scale and prepare purchase orders for subcontracted work.

• Verify finished products against shipping docs and determine packaging and shipping method.
• Schedule 3rd party carriers and coordinate loading of trucks for space and route efficiency.

Overview

As a Shipping and Receiving Associate, you will perform the following functions:

Receiving:

• Receive in Purchase Order, verify incoming goods against purchase orders, freight bills, delivery tickets, and other documentation, including part numbers, quantities, descriptions, weights, and dimensions.
• Report damaged materials or discrepancies to Customer Service.
• Accurately count items manually or by using a scale.
• Prepare purchase orders for subcontracted work.
• Respond to and expedite rush orders and other conditions affecting workflow.
• Complete identification tags and attach them to the appropriate products.
• Transport products to designated areas using a forklift, pallet jack, or other material-handling equipment.

Shipping:

• Verify finished products against the corresponding shipping documentation.
• Select appropriate packaging based on the product and shipping method.
• Determine the appropriate method of shipment.
• Schedule 3rd party carriers.
• Collaborate with the Shipping and Receiving/Traffic Supervisor to efficiently plan weekly company-truck stops.
• Coordinate the loading of company trucks to maximize space and route efficiency.
• Complete all required shipment documentation.
• Obtain credit approval from Customer Service for any shipment requiring review.
• Maintain accurate clerical records related to shipping and receiving activities.

What we’re Looking For:
