you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the daily shift operation in a cost-effective and productive manner. You will ensure the efficient and safe operation of the warehouse during your designated shift, meeting agreed budgetary and service levels. This key leadership role will also effectively manage all colleagues on the shift to ensure all customer expectations are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of warehouse employees to achieve daily shift goals.
Oversee the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring orders are processed efficiently and materials are delivered in accordance with production schedules and quality standards.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards and best practices, conducting regular inspections to maintain a clean and organised workspace.
Monitor and control inventory levels, addressing any discrepancies and ensuring inventories are accurate through physical counts and reconciliation with automated systems.
Manage manpower resources effectively to support customer delivery and optimize operational efficiency.
Identify areas for improvement and lead continuous improvement projects to reduce waste and enhance warehouse processes.
Manage costs and performance of the shift, monitoring KPIs, identifying associated actions, and highlighting areas for improvement.
Provide a shift summary and handover record with any exceptions detailed and actioned.
Effectively manage performance, conduct, absence, engagement and training and development of team members, holding people accountable and agreed departmental and company standards
Ensure high standards of security in the warehouse by setting security procedures.
Ensure vehicles, machinery, and equipment are well maintained and fit for purpose.
Qualifications:
Proven experience managing a team in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution environment at a similar level.
A full understanding of the requirements of running a warehouse, including health and safety and security.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and coach a team to operational success.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with a focus on maintaining on-site engagement.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to establish logical, practical solutions.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage time effectively.
Results-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
Positive, people-oriented approach and readiness to tackle daily challenges.
