Job summary

Merchants Distributors, LLC (MDI) in Hickory, NC is seeking Warehouse Selectors to fill customer orders in ambient, refrigerated, and freezer environments. You will operate pallet jacks and packing steps while upholding safety and quality standards.

Starting pay is $21.45/hour with a top base of $24.75/hour after meeting production metrics, plus Medical/Dental/Vision, Paid Time Off, and Tuition Reimbursement. Schedules include multiple shift options, with holiday and weekend work as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of experience in a warehouse/distribution environment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Pass pre-employment testing (Drug screening, background check, and physical abilities test).
• Stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate a pallet jack and label palletized products to fill customer orders.
• Work safely in areas with temperature and humidity changes (Dairy/Produce, Meat/Frozen, Grocery).
• Will train to operate an electric pallet jack to prepare shipments.
• Maintain production standards and pallet integrity during handling.

Departments

• Warehouse (Dry Goods & Perishables) - Ambient & Refrigerated Environment.
• Freezer - Frozen Environment at -20F. (Incentive Pay)

Schedules Available for Warehouse Department

• Monday-Thursday 4am-2pm
• Friday-Sunday 4am-4pm
• Wednesday-Friday 3pm-3am

Schedules Available for Freezer Department

• Sunday-Tuesday 3pm-3am
• Friday-Sunday 4am-4pm

Responsibilities

• Warehouse selectors are responsible for operating a pallet jack, label and palletize products in order to fill customer orders. Selectors must work efficiently and in a safe manner. This position requires working in areas with temperature and humidity changes based on local weather conditions, and the area in which the selector is working in (Dairy/Produce, Meat/Frozen, Grocery).

As a Warehouse Selector you -

• Must work in a safe manner adhering to all company safety guidelines.
• Must be able to reach, lift and stack cases ranging in weight from 1-100 lbs. from floor to overhead.
• Appropriately label selected product and apply header label to finish pallet to prep for shipment.
• Must maintain quality standards of accuracy, stacking and pallet conditions.
• Stack merchandise on pallet in a manner that no damage occurs while selecting orders, loading, or delivering product.
• WILL TRAIN to operate electric pallet jack in a safe manner so as not to endanger self or -co-workers.
• Must be able to walk and guide jack from slot and to slots during selections process.
• Must be able to work holidays and weekends (REQUIRED- per your schedule).
• Must be able to maintain production standards.

On average, warehouse selectors lift 20,000 - 40,000 lbs PER SHIFT.
