Job summary

UNFI is seeking a Warehouse Cleaner for our distribution center in New Hampshire. Primary duties include cleaning the distribution area, operating a floor scrubber, sweeping and mopping, and maintaining a clean, safe environment for staff and products.

Experience in warehouse operations is preferred but not required. The role emphasizes adherence to safety guidelines and the ability to perform minor maintenance and snow removal as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure you have all needed janitorial equipment.
• Operate floor scrubber.
• Sweep and vacuum dock plates.
• Sweep and mop sanitation barriers.
• Empty trash bins throughout the facility including cooler, grocery, loading dock, offices and break areas.
• Manage recycling and compacting.
• Keep areas free of debris.
• Remove empty pallets and clean mop slots.
• Discard leaking product and log reconditioning.
• Report policy violations to supervisor.
• Adhere to HACCP and SQF policies as appropriate.
• Exercise good judgment when supervision is not available.

Position Purpose

Primary responsibility is cleaning of the distribution center (75% of duties). Perform routine cleaning including vacuuming; sweeping, and mopping floors; dusting, washing walls, doors, and windows, and emptying trash. Perform minor preventative maintenance and minor repairs. Assist service personnel as needed. Reports major repair and maintenance needs. Assist with snow removal.

Essential Functions And Basic Duties

• Ensure that you have all of the needed janitorial equipment.
• Operates floor scrubber.
• Sweeps and vacuums dock plates.
• Sweeps and mop sanitation barriers.
• Empties trash bins from all locations in the cooler, grocery and loading dock, offices and break areas.
• Empties cardboard and plastic recycling and compacts.
• Keeps all areas free of debris such as wood fragments, pallet wrap, labels, and paper.
• Removes empty pallets and clean and mop slots.
• Discards leaking product and records on the reconditioning log.
• Reports any violation of company policy to supervisor or lead.
• Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures, as appropriate for location.
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Required Knowledge

• Understands Safety guidelines.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers.

Experience Required

• Warehouse/Operations preferred but not required.

Skills/Abilities

• Understand procedures in other areas of the warehouse for a more global understanding of all processes.
