Stord Labs is building a new Lab Test & Analytics function focused on evaluating automation, robotics, and operational technologies in real fulfillment environments. You will determine what to test, how to test, what data to collect, and how to interpret results to drive production-ready improvements.
The role blends test engineering, data analytics, and operational problem solving in a highly ambigious setting, with hands-on collaboration across Operations, Product, and Engineering.
This role is in a new Labs division within our client which is a new innovation and systems-testing function within their Network Innovation organization. The broader objective is to identify and validate new technologies that can materially improve the efficiency, quality, and economics of the company's fulfillment network.
The team is intentionally pilot-first and execution-oriented. Rather than operating as a traditional R&D or innovation group, Labs is designed to test new concepts in real fulfillment environments, prove whether they work, and then help move successful solutions toward production and broader network deployment.
The initial focus is heavily centered around physical AI, robotics, warehouse automation, and systems integration, with an expanding digital intelligence component including Vision AI and applied AI. The longer-term vision is to build a broader innovation engine spanning hardware and software.
The near-term goal is to deliver production-ready initiatives over the next 6–12 months, with a targeted operational impact in the ~7–10% range. The broader Labs vision has since evolved toward approximately 10–15% operational improvement over an 18-month horizon as the team scales.
This means the environment is much closer to real-world systems testing and deployment in a live distribution network than a traditional software QA organization.
The Test & Analytics Engineer sits within the Labs R&D/testing function and helps
determine whether new automation, robotics, and operational technologies actually perform as expected in a dynamic fulfillment environment.
The role combines:
Test Engineering + Systems Validation + Data/Analytics + Operational Problem Solving
The person should be comfortable taking an ambiguous testing problem, figuring out what needs to be tested, how to test it, what data needs to be collected, and what the results actually tell us, rather than simply executing a predefined test script.
We are looking for people who have demonstrated experience with:
Relevant backgrounds can include robotics companies, warehouse automation providers, end-user operations, industrial/manufacturing environments, or consulting/audit environments where the person has had to evaluate complex operational systems.
This is a new function being built within Stord Labs, so candidates should be comfortable with ambiguity, experimentation, and building processes rather than inheriting a mature testing organization.
The broader Labs organization is being built around software, engineering, deployment, testing, and technical program management, with close partnership across Network Innovation, Operations, Product, and Engineering.
The team operates in a fulfillment environment where technologies need to work in the real world, not just in a controlled lab. That is an important part of the appeal of the opportunity: candidates will have visibility into technologies being tested and implemented against actual operational use cases.
