Job summary

Staples is seeking a Warehouse Associate in Wauregan, CT, with a 5:00am-1:15pm, Monday–Friday shift. You may work in Warehouse Inventory Control or Warehouse Clerk, moving products with forklifts and pallet jacks while adhering to safety procedures.

You will review inventory, resolve discrepancies, and communicate with teammates to ensure accurate orders. The role offers competitive pay of $22.55/hour plus PTO, discounts, a 401(k) match, and wellness programs.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass a drug screen where legally permitted.
• Ability to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift for full-time role.

Responsibilities

• Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, electric pallet jacks) following safety procedures.
• Review inventory, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain records to minimize issues.
• Confirm product accuracy and communicate with internal/external contacts to resolve discrepancies.
• Possibly perform SC3 or other roles as needed; contribute to safe work practices.

What you'll be doing:

As a warehouse associate you may work in one of the following two areas:

Warehouse Inventory Control:

You will review inventory of product, reconcile inventory discrepancies, identify delivery shortages, and maintain inventory records to minimize discrepancies. You will be operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to move product within the warehouse while adhering to safety procedures.

Warehouse Clerk:

You will confirm accuracy of product and work with colleagues to address discrepancies and damages. You will communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external contacts to clarify and resolve issues. You will be operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to move product within the warehouse while adhering to safety procedures.

Please note, as an SC3 associate you may be moved into any of the above roles, or SC1 or SC2 roles, as needed.

• An ability to perform and understand warehouse operations.

• An ability to work on a computer using Windows including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel and ability to learn/understand WMS systems.

• An ability and a willingness to perform basic housekeeping in assigned areas of warehouse.
• An ability to adopt our safety procedures quickly and ensure safe work practices.
• An ability to be trained and Material Handling Equipment certified to operate power material handling equipment, i.e. Forklift, Electric Pallet Jack, etc.
• Basic English language skills (both verbal and written communications).

What's needed- Basic Qualifications:

• Ability to pass a drug screen to the extent permissible legally.
• If you are hired as a Full-Time associate, you must have the ability to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift; additional overtime hours will be required based on business need.
• Ability to work at heights up to 60 feet or more as needed.
• An ability to lift, push or pull boxes/merchandise weighing between 70 pounds and 100 pounds by hand.
• Must wear safety composite work shoes.
• Ability to walk and stand 100% of the time.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

What's needed- Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ year of related experience in a warehouse environment; including MHE experience, ability to become certified (i.e. Driving forklift, cherry picker, turret, or Electric Pallet Jack), and Inventory Control.
• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
