Job summary

Central Steel & Wire, part of the Ryerson Family of Companies, is seeking a Warehouse Operator on the 3rd shift in University Park, IL. You will stage, pack, and pick material for shipments using proper equipment.

The role runs Monday through Friday, 11:00 PM–7:30 AM, with an apprenticeship onboarding and a starting pay rate of $22.92–$26.12 per hour. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401K with employer matching, paid time off, disability insurance, and wellness programs.

Qualifications

• Skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem solving.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills and basic computer skills required.
• Physical ability to pass vision, hearing, and mobility tests.
• Onboarding includes enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer orders.
• Packaging material to customer specifications.
• Operate sit-down or side loader forklift for material movement.
• Complete SAP work orders for shipping/receiving.
• Maximize productivity for finished goods creation.

As a Warehouse Operator at Central Steel & Wire, you will be responsible for day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

This position is 3rd shift. The hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 11pm - 7:30am.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer‑specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit‑down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills‑based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training

Salary: $22.92 - 26.12 per hour. A starting salary higher than $22.92 per hour is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
