Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Warehouse Associate to perform a variety of inventory and loading tasks in a refrigerated environment. You will receive, store, move, and distribute items, read orders, and use equipment to handle pallets and cases while maintaining accuracy and a clean, safe workplace.

Responsibilities include picking and packing customer orders, maintaining stock rotation, conducting cycle counts, and following DFA GMP, safety, and quality guidelines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Load and unload stacks; move items to racks or bins per sequence.
• Sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated areas.
• Maintain organization and rotation of stock in coolers/warehouse.
• Fill requisitions and distribute materials to production workers.
• Accurately pull and prepare customer orders for shipping.
• Check shipment details and bills of lading for accuracy.
• Use computer to scan/enter inventories and records.
• Complete daily pick sheets and counts; assist with cycle counts.
• Monitor materials and report irregularities to supervisor.
• Operate forklift/Pallet jack for loading/unloading and moving inventory.

Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE

Perform various warehouse and inventory related tasks. Receive, process, store, move, and distribute items (products, materials, ingredients, equipment, supplies, etc.) within a warehouse or cooler/refrigerated environment. Unload and load trucks, truck trailers, cases, pallets, stacks, etc. Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed. Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas by hand, hand truck, or electric hand truck. Record received and shipped items. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Work within clearly defined processes and tasks.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load and unload stacks and move items as assigned; sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, color, or product code
• Sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated area
• Maintain organization, rotation of stock, and neatness of all coolers and warehouse
• Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other items and distribute to production workers
• Accurately pull and prepare customer orders for shipping and for efficient loading onto trucks/trailers
• Check all information for accurate shipment of customer orders; check bills of lading for accuracy before any product is shipped or received; check products for cleanliness and condition prior to loading
• Use computer to accurately scan or enter/maintain inventories and records
• Complete daily pick sheets, cycle counts, and production take backs
• Assist with monthly inventory counts, year-end inventory counts, and cycle counts as required
• Monitor materials, product, and equipment at each step of the process and report irregularities or concerns to supervisor
• May sort, bundle and fill containers or place in assembled units
• May mark or put identifying labels on product loads
• May operate a forklift, including a standing forklift, to load and unload trucks and move inventory from one location to another
• Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization
• Follow all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements. Inform QA personnel of any quality issues

REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal
• Effective verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
• Must be able to stand, walk, pull, push, reach and bend virtually the entire shift
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist others when lifting is necessary and manually stack and move cases up to 6-8 cases high
• Must be able to work in a wet environment and work in an environment where temperature is maintained at 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit
• Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays
• May occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals
• Minimum six months experience in operating a forklift in a high efficiency environment
• Minimum six months experience related to manufacturing environment
• Must have forklift and pallet jack operator's certification
• Must be able to pass a written and driving forklift skills test
