Job summary

You will participate in an onboarding apprenticeship program and contribute to efficient shipping processes while maintaining safety and accuracy in daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math and inspection skills.
• Minimum 1 year of similar experience preferred.
• Basic math and computer skills required.
• Ability to pass a vision/hearing/mobility exam.
• Onboarding includes enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Pickup and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Break down bulk bundles for customer orders.
• Package material to customer requirements.
• Operate a sit-down or side loader forklift for movement.
• Complete SAP work orders for shipping/receiving.
• Maximize productivity in finished goods creation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

As a Service Center Operator C (SCOC) at Ryerson, you will be responsible for day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 1yearof similar job experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training
