Job summary

GEODIS is hiring a Warehouse Operator 1 in Elk Grove Village, IL. This role involves reading schedules and orders to move, pull, and stage products for shipment, using forklifts and other equipment.

You will ensure accurate order fulfillment, maintain safety, and assist with inventory checks in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 3–6 months of warehouse experience, and familiarity with forklift operation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Read production schedules, customer orders, and work orders to determine items to be moved and shipped.
• Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring correct quantity and type.
• Sort and store materials by size, type, style, color, or product code.
• Assemble customer orders from stock and stage for packing or shipping.
• Operate forklift or other equipment to move products within the warehouse.
• Maintain clean, safe equipment and report service needs.
• Assist with inventory counts and warehouse cleanup.
• Check orders for accuracy and proper labeling according to procedures.

Your role on the team: (job description)

• Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition todetermineitems to be moved, gathered, and/or distributed
• Pulls and prepares product for shipment, ensuring that the exact number and type of product is loaded
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code
• Assembles customer orders from stock, stage orders and/or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department according to OH or customer pick sheet
• Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages products and materials using afork lift, clamp truck or other power equipment
• Maintains equipment by keeping it clean and safe, reporting service requests as needed
• Assistsinmaintainingthe security of the warehouse by conducting operations in a manner which promotes safety
• Checks orders for exactness and neatness according to ISO 9001 procedures
• Marks materials with identifying information
• Recordsamountsof materials or items received or distributed
• Weighs or counts items for distribution within warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards
• Efficiently moves and loads product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers
• Unloads inbound freight safely and moves products to storage locations
• Performs picking duties in an efficient manner that meets both company and customer standards
• Assistswith physical inventories and cycle counts, ensuring proper stock rotation
• Assistsin distribution center/warehouse cleanup asrequired
• Other duties asrequiredand assigned by supervisor
• For food accounts, incumbent is responsibleto reportfood safety problems to senior management toinitiateaction.

What you need:(requirements)

• High school education or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
• Minimum 3 to 6 months experience and/or training in a warehouse environment
• Previousexperience operating warehouse equipment such as a forklift preferred
• Ability to read andcomprehendsimple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
• Ability to follow safety regulations while operating equipment
• Ability to regularlylift upto 50 pounds
• Ability to learn proper operations of warehouse equipment
