Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Service Center Operator C in Texas to join our industrial metals team. You will stage, pack, and pick material for shipments, using appropriate equipment and SAP for shipping documentation.

On-the-job training through a registered apprenticeship program supports your development, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and productive workflow in a fast-paced environment at our Carrollton area facility.

Qualifications

• Reading and math assessment required.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills needed.
• Basic computer skills required and willingness to learn SAP.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Packaging of material to customer requirements.
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving.
• Maximize productivity for finished goods creation.
• Other duties as assigned or changes may occur.

As a Service Center Operator C (SCOC) at Ryerson, you will be responsible for day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 1yearof similar job experience preferred
• Basic math skills
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
• Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training
