Job summary

GXO Logistics is hiring an Operations Manager to join our new retail distribution operation in Northampton. You will lead a high‑volume, MHE‑heavy site with a focus on safety, service and cost control, building a high‑performing culture under a strong leadership team.

This is a permanent, full‑time role (37.5 hours/week) with standard weekday shifts and occasional support for 24/7 operations. Salary up to £70,000 plus 25 days annual leave, company pension, private medical and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior warehouse or operations management role, ideally in a fast-paced, retail distribution environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to engage, develop and inspire large teams.
• Commercial mindset with a clear understanding of cost drivers, budget control and KPI delivery.
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, MHE environments and compliance standards.
• Confident stakeholder manager who can build relationships and influence at all levels.
• Analytical and data-driven, with the ability to interpret performance and drive improvement.

Here at GXO Logistics, we’re looking for a Operations Manager to join our new retail distribution operation in Northampton. This is a purpose‑designed, dedicated site servicing over 250+ stores, where speed, accuracy and service are critical - and where you’ll play a key role in leading a high‑volume, MHE‑heavy operation with a strong focus on cost control and customer delivery. This is a standout opportunity to lead a new, flagship site from the ground up. With a combination of automation, high‑volume throughput and complex operational flows, you’ll be at the centre of a business where cost, quality and service are equally critical. You’ll have real ownership of the operation, the chance to shape culture and performance, and the support of a strong leadership team. It’s a role where you can make a tangible impact every single day.

This is a full‑time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, either 08:00 – 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00. Flexibility will be required to support a 24/7 operation when needed, this is logistics after all!
