Job summary

Great Lakes Wine & Spirits is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic for one of our two depots in Metro Detroit. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing conveyor systems, electrical systems, and heavy machinery, with hands-on troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. You’ll work on elevated heights and must read/write in English, with a full-time night shift and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years experience repairing and troubleshooting conveyor systems.
  • 2+ years experience repairing and troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • 2+ years experience repairing heavy machinery and specialized equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot conveyor systems and electrical systems.
  • Perform level 1 troubleshooting on powered industrial truck equipment; coordinate with higher level mechanics.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on conveyor and air systems; inspect equipment.
  • Operate and observe machinery to diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs.
  • Adhere to safety policies; document work per procedures.

Great Lakes Wine & Spirits continues to grow as we seek a Maintenance Mechanic for one of our two depots in Metro Detroit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Maintenance Mechanic will conduct preventative maintenance and repair work for our facility and its equipment. These tasks include installation, emergency and preventative maintenance, and inspection of mechanical equipment, conveyor systems, and electrical systems. Other duties include but not limited to:

  • Installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots conveyor systems, electrical systems, heavy machinery, and specialized equipment.
  • Performs level 1 troubleshooting on powered industrial truck equipment. Coordinates with day PIT mechanic when level 2 troubleshooting required.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on conveyor system, air compressor system, PIT EV batteries.
  • Operates machines and other equipment to observe operations, diagnose malfunctions or make repairs.
  • *Employee must be comfortable working at heights of up to 30 feet (~20% of work performed).
  • Document work performed in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Support production by handling oddball tasks required to meet production goals.
Work Schedule

This is a full-time position and will be assigned to work the Night Shift starting at 6:00 PM and may be frequently asked to work beyond the 8-hour schedule per shift.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position operates in a warehouse environment and will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibrations where noise levels can be loud. This position may also be physically demanding in nature, requiring to lift equipment and parts weighing up to 55 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds of force. This position is required to operate warehouse equipment and to regularly read, write and communicate in English.

Required Qualifications
  • Age 18 years or older

  • At least 2 years of experience in repairing and troubleshooting heavy machinery and specialized equipment.
Additional Requirements
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee policy manual and any applicable contracts, signed agreements, and work rules.
  • Cooperates with all management and staff of GLWAS.
  • Follows all MLCC rules and regulations, as they apply to the position.
  • Use alcohol in a responsible manner when related to business activities.
