Job summary

Earle M. Jorgensen Company (EMJ) seeks a Warehouse Material Handler 1 for our Plant Operations. You will pull, fill, cut orders, and handle inventory and shipping tasks, with basic equipment operation in metals distribution.

This role requires 1–2 years warehousing experience, a HS diploma, and a valid driver’s license. Union benefits, 401(k), and other programs are offered to employees.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of warehousing or material handling experience.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License preferred.
• Experience operating cranes, forklifts, or other heavy equipment preferred.
• Ability to obtain certification to operate motorized material handling equipment.
• Clear oral and written communication.
• Physical fitness to operate heavy equipment.
• Ability to read work instructions and blueprints.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and multitask.
• Teamwork and collaboration with supervisors and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Move inventory and fill customer orders.
• Read and verify work orders; confirm heat numbers and material specs.
• Operate cranes, forklifts, side loaders, yard trucks, saws, and other heavy equipment as required.
• Receive and return items into stock locations.
• Unload incoming material and load trucks and customer vehicles.
• Tag material for identification and complete documentation.
• Sort and place materials by size, type, or product code.
• Coordinate with team to ensure safe machine and equipment operations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Drive company vehicle for local deliveries and parts pick-up (non-DOT).
