Job summary

AMI Metals, Inc. in Saint Charles, MO, part of Reliance, Inc., seeks a dependable shipping/receiving associate to prepare customer orders for shipping and support production.

Responsibilities include packing, building skids, operating saws and banding equipment, performing quality inspections, following packing procedures, and lifting up to 50 pounds. A high school diploma or GED is required; forklift certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
• Basic mathematical skills for unit conversions and quantities.
• Reasoning ability to follow detailed but straightforward instructions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasional standing and walking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare customer orders for shipping and assist production.
• Build skids or boxes and pack orders for shipment.
• Operate crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun, and banding equipment as needed.
• Follow AMI packing and preservation policies and procedures.
• Perform quality inspections to maintain high standards.
• Mark shipments and stencil shipping information as required.
• Maintain equipment records and keep work area clean.
• Comply with safety and quality policies; participate in SPC/TQM meetings.
• May lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Job Function

Prepares customer orders for shipping and helping with production by performing the following essential duties.

Essential Duties

• Builds skids or boxes for packing and shipping of all orders.


• Uses crosscut saw, miter saw, nail gun, staple gun and banding equipment as needed.


• Follows AMI packing and preservation policies and procedures.


• Performs quality inspections on orders to maintain 100% quality standards.


• Marks all shipments in accordance with customer and AMI procedures and requirements.


• Properly stencils shipping information as required.


• Provides maintenance and keeps records of all equipment assigned.


• Maintains clean work area.


• Follows all company safety and quality policies and procedures.


• Participates in TQM and SPC meetings.


• May require lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.

Required Skills

EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

CERTIFICATES: Forklift Certification, Preferred.

OTHER ABILITIES: Ability to work irregular hours.
