Job summary

Interstate Batteries is seeking a Warehouse Manager to oversee all inventory movement in the Columbia, SC warehouse. Responsibilities include supervising 2-3 staff, loading/unloading trucks, receiving, putaways, picking, packing, palletizing, and shipping while ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements.

You will design efficient warehouse layouts, develop SOPs, and manage cycle counts and inventory accuracy for assets valued between $500,000 and $3 million.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years warehouse management experience including inventory control procedures and inventory/accounting relationships
  • Superior leadership, management, motivation and teamwork skills
  • Strong written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills and able to work under pressure
  • Working knowledge of carrier operations, shipment routing and distribution methods
  • Understanding of state, federal and interstate commerce regulations
  • Strong computer skills
  • Superior training and coaching skills
  • Have keen understanding of hazardous shipping laws and requirements
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles

Responsibilities

  • Directs warehouse operations including receiving, putaways, picking, packing, shipping and palletizing
  • Supervises 2-3 warehouse workers and ensures safe, efficient workflow
  • Designs warehouse layout to maximize space and productivity
  • Develops SOPs and performance standards
  • Coordinates physical inventories and cycle counts
  • Maintains inventory accuracy and safeguards values from $500,000 to $3.0 million
  • Operates forklift and trains staff in safe operation
  • Prepares operational reports and manages budgets

Purpose of Job

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for all inventory movement in Distributorship's warehouse including loading and unloading trucks, supervising 2-3 Warehouse Workers, ordering and handling bi products and Econos and processing cores.

Job Components

Must be able to perform all warehouse jobs including : Receiving, Putaways, Picking, Replenishments, Packing, Palletizing, and ShippingDirects Warehouse WorkersEnsures continuous process improvementDesigns warehouse layout to maximize space utilization, productivity and safetyDevelops standard operating procedures and performance standardsManages inventory quality and accuracy assurance programCoordinates physical inventory process and cycle countsDevelops stock location and order picking strategies to optimize work flow, space utilization, and labor productivityResponsible for the physical custody and overall safeguarding of the inventoryEnsures that operations are conducted safely and within the lawBudgets and controls expensesProcess inbound receiving of containers or full truck, truck pallet shipments, and small parcel shipments.Prepares and distributes operational reportsOperates forklift and trains Warehouse Workers in safe and efficient use of sameFull responsibility of inventory valued at $500,000 - $3.0 millionProcess flow of 1.0 - 13.0 million pieces shipped per year out of the warehouseManage staff of 2-3 Warehouse Workers

Work Environment

Regularly required to use hands to grasp or handle, talk and hear, stand and walk. Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move 70+ lbs. Exposed to battery warehouse conditions such as exposure to moving equipment mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals.
