Position Summary:The Warehouse Manager leads daily warehouse and assigned production operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, material handling, material movement, and production support. This position supervises a team of approximately 14 employees, including production, shipping and receiving, and material handling personnel.

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, timely, and cost-effective flow of materials throughout the facility while supporting production requirements and customer commitments. This role works collaboratively across departments to achieve goals related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity while driving continuous improvement and developing a positive, accountable, and high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Delivery

  • Lead and coordinate daily shipping, receiving, warehouse, material handling, and assigned production activities.
  • Manage inbound and outbound shipments to ensure accuracy, on-time delivery, and cost-effective transportation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable shipping, DOT, hazardous material, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain required shipping documentation, including bills of lading, packing lists, and other shipment records.
  • Coordinate with carriers, suppliers, Purchasing, Production, and other internal teams to resolve shipment and material issues.
  • Maintain efficient warehouse, stockroom, and production staging areas.

  • Support production scheduling and workflow to meet customer requirements for quality and delivery.

Inventory & Material Control

  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, damages, and nonconforming materials.
  • Manage warehouse space utilization and material flow to improve efficiency and organization.
  • Ensure material availability and staging supports production schedules and customer delivery requirements.

Production & Quality

  • Provide direct leadership and oversight for assigned production activities and personnel.
  • Support achievement of production goals related to safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
  • Ensure employees follow established procedures, work instructions, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor operational performance and address issues affecting productivity, quality, scrap, or customer delivery.
  • Promote cross-functional teamwork and employee flexibility to meet changing production and business needs.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, coach, train, and develop a team of approximately 14 employees across production, shipping and receiving, and material handling functions.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and workplace behavior.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and development opportunities.
  • Support employee cross-training and development to improve team flexibility and operational continuity.
  • Address employee performance and conduct issues in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, collaboration, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Maintain a visible presence in warehouse and production areas to provide leadership, support, and direction.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable OSHA requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse operations, material flow, inventory accuracy, productivity, and cost.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor departmental expenses and identify opportunities for cost containment and improved operational efficiency.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations, shipping and receiving, inventory control, material handling, and production support.
  • Understanding of domestic and international shipping requirements preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT hazardous material requirements and general OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with ERP, inventory management, or warehouse management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and lead effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Five or more years of experience in warehouse, shipping and receiving, inventory control, material handling, or manufacturing operations.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience required.
  • Experience leading both warehouse and production employees preferred.

Other Requirements

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DOT Hazmat certification, if required.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
