Job summary

Pilkington North America Inc. in Urbancrest, OH is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 7am–3pm). The role includes coordinating maintenance activities, supporting preventative maintenance, and enabling continuous improvement for reliable plant operation.

The job requires at least 4 years of related experience, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency with MS Office. You will work with a safety-focused team and may train others while handling equipment like scissor

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities of maintenance team members engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining an effective preventative maintenance program to ensure maximum equipment reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the facility.
  • Ensure planned work is completed in accordance with safety rules, policy, and procedures by plant employees and contractors as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist in training maintenance personnel in the use of programmable controllers and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate all facility repairs with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Load and unload palletized racking.
  • Inspect fire suppression system weekly and monthly, maintain fire system, extinguishers and exit lights.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors to complete maintenance tasks and safety training before repairs.
  • Maintain good condition of floor scrubbers and cleaners.
  • Direct snow removal and exterior facility maintenance as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Abide by all regulations related to hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
  • Operate scissor lift, sit-down forklift, reach truck, and cherry picker.
  • Participate in annual RCRA training and Lock Out Tag Out Training.
  • May be required to assist in training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Primary duties:

  • Coordinate activities of maintenance team members engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment and in fabricating metal parts and tools as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assists in maintaining an effective preventative maintenance program to ensure maximum equipment reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement activities within the facility.
  • See that planned work is completed in accordance to safety rules, policy, and procedures by plant employees and contractors, as directed by the
  • Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assists in the training of maintenance personnel in the use of programmable controllers and electrical systems.
  • Coordinates all facility repairs with the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Loads and unloads palletized racking.
  • Performs weekly and monthly inspection of fire suppression system including fire pump, maintenance of fire system, ensures good condition of fire extinguishers and fire egress signs/lights.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors to complete maintenance tasks, complete work permits and complete contractor safety training prior to beginning repair tasks, as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintains good mechanical condition of floor scrubbers and cleaners.
  • Directs snow removal and maintenance of exterior facility conditions as necessary, as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Will abide by all Federal, State, and Local requirements related to generating and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste material.
  • Must be able to operate a scissor lift, sit down forklift, reach truck, and cherry picker.
  • Participate in annual RCRA training.
  • Participate in Lock Out Tag Out Training.
  • May be required to assist in training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hourly Pay:$18.00 - $20.00, based on experience
