Job summary

City Electric Supply is seeking a Warehouse Lead at the Charlotte Fulfillment Center to drive efficient CES Online fulfillment center operations. You will oversee receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and general handling, with occasional wire cutting tasks.

As the frontline supervisor, you will train and evaluate staff, delegate tasks, and ensure safety, quality, and timely service. This role requires LEAN-minded leadership and ability to resolve complex situations to meet customer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree preferred; 5–10 years of warehouse experience.
• Experience with receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and inventory control.
• Strong leadership and training abilities; familiar with LEAN principles.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily activities of employees engaged in loading/unloading, picking, packing, shipping, and receiving.
• Oversee training, performance evaluations, and development of warehouse staff.
• Interviewing, hiring, training, and directing work; manage disciplinary actions.
• Fill-in for absence of a manager and rotate between departments as needed.
• Provide performance and status reports including pull times, safety, inventory, and cycle counts.
• Maintain the warehouse in a clean, safe state following LEAN principles.
• Ensure a healthy and productive work environment and resolve issues to satisfy customers.

Summary

The warehouse lead is expected to fully understand all warehouse processes to proficiently execute CES Online fulfillment center activities and standard operating procedures.

The primary warehouse activities include material receiving, material put-a-way, picking, packing, shipping, and general handling. Additionally, wire cutting, and paralleling can be a work requirement.

The warehouse lead is responsible with assisting the warehouse manager with managing all aspects of the CES Online fulfillment center’s production floor, overseeing the team’s associates, and their overall day to day activities. Additionally, the warehouse manager must quickly resolve complex situations as they arise to ensure both internal and external customer satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions

• Manage and perform activities of employees engaged in loading/unloading, selecting, packing, shipping, receiving, and transporting merchandise as well as incoming and outgoing shipment activity; ensures efficient, accurate, and timely customer service.


• Responsible for the overall direction, coordination of employee training, and evaluation of warehouse employees.


• Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing, complaints, and resolving problems. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Manages team and as a working manager fills in to help as needed.


• Ability to fill-in for absence of a manager as well as to rotate between departments as needed


• Provide and utilize various performance and status reports, including pull times, safety, inventory, equipment maintenance, security, and cycle counts.


• Operate and maneuver material handling equipment and any material(s) contained thereon in the manner consistent with the intended purpose of the equipment and the manufacturers’ instructions.


• Maintain the warehouse in an orderly and clean state; follow all company safety procedures; perform daily safety inspections (follow LEAN principles).


• Ensure a healthy and productive work environment.


• Identify deficiencies and/or areas of improvement and communicate to management team for resolution.


• Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and work effectively/efficiently in a fast-paced environment.


• Ability to guide a group of employees as they complete a project. They are responsible for developing and implementing a timeline their team will use to reach its end goal.


• Ability to delegate responsibilities for team whom they supervise.


• Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with customers, coworkers and supervisors.


• Other duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation/Experience

High school diploma or GED, bachelor’s degree preferred; five to ten years of pervious warehouse experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
