Job summary

Ships-A-Lot is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Lead to coordinate daily activities in a defined warehouse area, such as Receiving, Inventory, Picking, Packing, or Shipping.

You will work alongside warehouse associates, organize workflow, communicate priorities, and help maintain accuracy and safety across operations.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of warehouse, distribution, logistics, or related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day workflow within an assigned warehouse area.
  • Help organize work assignments and communicate daily priorities established by the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for questions and operational issues within the assigned area.
  • Assist coworkers with processes, procedures, equipment, and system questions.
  • Identify delays, bottlenecks, inventory issues, or other operational problems and communicate them to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Help ensure company procedures and established work standards are consistently followed.
  • Provide feedback to the Warehouse Supervisor regarding workflow, employee performance, training needs, and operational concerns.
  • Step in and perform warehouse duties alongside other employees as needed.
  • Receive and unload inbound shipments; verify quantities and product condition; label and enter into system; move to storage locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records; perform cycle counts; investigate discrepancies.
  • Coordinate daily picking and packing workflow; verify orders for accuracy; assist with system issues.
  • Coordinate the staging and preparation of outbound shipments; ensure shipping documentation.
  • Assist with training new and existing warehouse employees; demonstrate equipment and systems use.

Position Summary

The Warehouse Lead is a hands‑on warehouse position responsible for coordinating the day‑to‑day activities within an assigned area of the warehouse, such as Receiving, Inventory, Picking, Packing, or Shipping. The Warehouse Lead works alongside warehouse associates while helping organize workflow, communicate priorities, maintain accuracy, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.

The Warehouse Lead does not have direct reports or formal supervisory authority. Instead, this position serves as a knowledgeable resource and point of contact for employees working in the assigned area and helps the Warehouse Supervisor maintain smooth daily operations.

The Warehouse Lead is expected to lead by example, perform the same essential warehouse functions as other team members, and assist the Warehouse Supervisor in identifying and resolving operational issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Area Leadership

Warehouse Operations

Depending on the assigned area, responsibilities may include:

Receiving
  • Receive and unload inbound shipments.
  • Verify quantities and product condition against receiving documentation.
  • Ensure products are properly labeled and entered into the warehouse system.
  • Coordinate the movement of received products to appropriate storage locations.
  • Identify and report receiving discrepancies or damaged products.
Inventory
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and locations.
  • Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventory.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and communicate findings to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Ensure products are properly labeled, organized, and stored.
  • Monitor inventory movement and identify potential issues.
Picking & Packing
  • Coordinate daily picking and packing workflow.
  • Help prioritize orders based on established requirements.
  • Verify orders for accuracy and ensure products are properly packaged and labeled.
  • Assist employees in resolving order or system issues.
  • Monitor productivity and accuracy within the assigned area.
Shipping
  • Coordinate the staging and preparation of outbound shipments.
  • Verify orders, quantities, labels, and shipping documentation.
  • Ensure shipments are properly prepared and ready for carrier pickup.
  • Communicate shipping issues or delays to the Warehouse Supervisor.
Training & Support
  • Assist with training new and existing warehouse employees on established processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proper use of warehouse equipment, systems, and tools.
  • Serve as a resource for employees who have questions about their assigned tasks.
  • Reinforce established safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Notify the Warehouse Supervisor when additional training or coaching may be needed.
Safety & Quality
  • Lead by example in following all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote safe work practices within the assigned area.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and warehouse equipment.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, or equipment problems to the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Identify quality or process issues and help implement corrective actions as directed.
Equipment & Technology
  • Operate warehouse equipment safely and in accordance with company requirements.
  • Use warehouse management systems, scanners, computers, and other technology necessary to perform assigned duties.
  • Assist coworkers with basic system or equipment questions.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or technology issues to the appropriate person.
  • Support the implementation of new warehouse technology, automation, or processes.
Qualifications
Required

Preferred
  • Previous experience as a warehouse lead, senior warehouse associate, trainer, or similar role.
  • Experience with inventory control or warehouse management systems.
  • Forklift or other powered industrial truck experience.
  • Experience training or mentoring coworkers.
  • Experience in a fulfillment, distribution, logistics, or third‑party warehouse environment.
  • Experience working with warehouse automation, robotics, scanners, or other technology.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and climb as needed.
  • Work in varying warehouse temperatures.
  • Operate forklifts and powered industrial equipment as needed.
