JOB SUMMARYThe Warehouse Lead performs the duties of the warehouse associate and indirectly supports and leads the activities of all Warehouse Associates as defined by the Warehouse Operations Manager.Under the direction of the Operations Warehouse Manager, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include recommendations for hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; aid in performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problemsPRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership, Management & AccountabilityProvides clear directions to warehouse associates and creates opportunities for them to succeed.Delegates work, as appropriate, and develop their skillsets to help them grow.Provides clear expectations regarding measurables, Core Values, roles & responsibilities to warehouse associates.Participates in quarterly conversations with warehouse associates and annual performance reviews.Provides the necessary tools to warehouse associates, including training, technology, personal time, and attention.Warehouse ManagementPerform duties of Warehouse Associate as needed (see appropriate job description).Maintain all Safety and Food Defense related policies and procedures to insure all standards are achieved. Supports all SQF policies and requirements.Act as a back up for PCQI practitionerSupports and promotes compliance with all stated safety policies and requirements.Recommends changes designed to improve control and efficiency of logistics and warehouse operations.Perform Warehouse Operations Manager’s duties when he is absent or when requested.Keep accurate forklift maintenance records (daily report) to identify recurring problems and report back to our service provider (Maintenance company /GNB Battery) as well as insure that proper PM’s are being completed quarterly by Maintenance company.Review, maintain, repair and report facility needs as required including general housekeeping, repairs, (minor & major), painting, Safety (exit) lighting, small power equipment.Assist with checking all outbound shipments.Initiate investigations into causes of damages or shortages of product.Assist with the formulation and implementation of programs to ensure high standards of service.Assist with inbound receiving including taking pictures of damages and forwarding appropriate information to process claims.Monitor and notify Office Administration Supervisor of any supplies required for warehouse operations (stretch wrap; boxes; tape, etc.)Manages timely, productive and damage free inbound freight.Initiates and maintains Good Housekeeping practices.Perform routing responsibilities and driver scheduling as needed.Other duties as required.Inventory ManagementMaintains inventory accuracy by assuring procedure compliance in all movement of stock.Minimizes product damage. Ensures employees are properly trained and comply with standard operating procedures.Monitors inventory accuracy and implements corrective action where needed.Assist with cycle-counts and quarterly inventory.Project ManagementLeads projects in the warehouse.Clerical/General AdministrativeRespond to routine emails, phone calls, etcMake copies, print documents, mail delivery, etcFile paperworkThis job description is not intended to be all inclusive and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management as required.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 100 pounds as well as, maneuvering up to 450 pound drums. Must be able to work in severe weather conditions; both heat and cold. Use of equipment includes but not limited to forklifts, hand jacks, electric pallet jacks, and drum carts.LANGUAGE SKILLS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear fluently in English and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before individuals or groups.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all unites of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ration, and percent.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Quality and Quantity Standards: Standards may be both qualitative and quantitative and will be determined by the Operations Manager.CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Maintain a current valid Commercial Driver’s License for the Class (A, B) vehicle operated and any endorsements required. Maintain a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate. Certified on Essex Grain forklift every 3 years.Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Associate Degree and a minimum 3-5 years related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experienceWorking Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; and vibrations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and standard warehouse equipment such as hand trucks, forklifts, hand held scanners and box cutters. Lifting up to 50 lbs.
