BP LabLine is looking for a Warehouse Lead to own day-to-day operations at our warehouse in East Brunswick, New Jersey. This is a full-time, on-site role, five days per week. You will be responsible for the full flow of goods through the warehouse — receiving, inspection, put-away, picking, packing, and shipping — as well as building and maintaining the inventory database the rest of the business relies on.
This is a builder role as well as an operator role, with real room to grow. During your first year, your direct supervisor will work closely with you and provide hands‑on guidance — especially on system setup, the inventory database, and process design. The goal is for you to grow, within approximately 12 months, into the person who independently runs the warehouse's day‑to‑day operations: keeping inventory accurate and improving systems and tools as our volume grows. As the warehouse and the role expand, there is a clear growth path to Warehouse Manager.
Daily warehouse operations — Own the full daily operation of the warehouse: receiving, inspection, put‑away and shelving, storage, picking, packing, and outbound shipping, so orders leave accurately and on time and nothing waits without an owner.
Receiving and inbound inspection — Check every inbound delivery against its packing list and purchase order (PO): verify model, SKU, quantity, and visible condition. Photograph and document any shortage, wrong item, or damage, flag the exception to the operations team the same day, and complete the inbound record before the goods are shelved.
Inventory database — build and maintain — Build, organize, and maintain the warehouse inventory database: SKU master data, bin/shelf locations, quantities on hand, and item status. Keep records current with every receipt, shipment, return, and adjustment so book inventory matches what is physically on the shelf.
Inventory accuracy and counts — Run regular cycle counts and periodic full stocktakes, investigate variances to root cause (miscount, mislabel, wrong location, unrecorded movement), correct the records, and report the variance and its cause rather than carrying discrepancies forward.
Order fulfillment and shipping — Pick and pack orders to priority, verify item and quantity against the order before sealing, prepare shipping labels and documents, and hand off cleanly to carriers with tracking recorded.
Returns receiving and inspection — Receive returned goods and process them under the company's returns inspection SOP: log each return against its RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number for end-to-end tracking, inspect the item, record a condition grade, and route it to restock, repair, clearance, or supplier return as determined. Keep returns in the dedicated returns area until disposition is decided.
Carrier and logistics coordination — Book and schedule carrier pickups, track shipments in transit, and follow up on delivery exceptions, delays, and damage claims with carriers, keeping the operations team informed.
Supplies and consumables — Monitor stock of packing materials and warehouse consumables (boxes, tape, labels, protective packaging) and reorder in time so shipping never stalls for lack of supplies.
Warehouse organization, 5S, and safety — Maintain clear, labeled zones for receiving, storage, packing, shipping, and returns; keep aisles and work areas clean and organized under 5S principles; and follow warehouse safety protocols, reporting hazards or equipment issues promptly.
Systems and process improvement (long-term) — Evaluate the current inventory tools and warehouse workflows, recommend a more suitable platform or toolset when the current one no longer fits, support its implementation, and document warehouse SOPs so the process does not depend on one person's memory.
Training future warehouse staff — As the team grows, train and supervise new warehouse hires on receiving, inventory, shipping, and returns procedures, and check their work until they can operate to standard independently.
Education — High school diploma or equivalent required. An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred but not required — hands‑on warehouse and inventory experience matters more for this role than a specific degree.
Experience — 3–5 years of hands‑on experience in a warehouse or related logistics environment, including direct responsibility for inventory management (receiving, stock records, counts, and reconciliation), not only picking and packing.
Systems — Experience using a WMS (Warehouse Management System), ERP, or inventory database system, and the ability to help build and maintain one, not just use one. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required (lookups, filters, and basic reporting).
Background — A professional background in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain is preferred. Experience with shipping carriers, freight coordination, or handling laboratory / technical equipment is a plus. Experience handling temperature‑controlled / cold‑chain products or precision instruments — including careful storage, moving, packing, and transport — is preferred.
Working style — Detail‑oriented and organized, with accurate counts and clean, traceable records. Able to solve day‑to‑day problems independently, prioritize a changing workload, and communicate exceptions early and clearly to operations, sales, and customer service colleagues.
Physical and on‑site requirements — Able to work on‑site in East Brunswick, New Jersey, five days per week, and to perform physical warehouse work. Able to lift up to 50 lbs independently; heavier items handled with team lift or forklift.
Within approximately 12 months, you run the warehouse independently as its primary owner: daily receiving, shelving, shipping, and returns proceed without day‑to‑day supervision.
The inventory database is built, trusted, and kept current, with cycle counts on schedule and variances investigated to root cause rather than carried forward.
Returns are processed under the inspection SOP with full RMA tracking, and dispositions are recorded the same week goods arrive.
Warehouse SOPs are documented, and at least one system or workflow improvement has been evaluated and proposed with a clear recommendation.
