Job summary

Omni Companies is seeking an Inventory Specialist to support the Operations team in Minnesota, focusing on inventory control for office furniture and related products. The role requires hands-on experience with RF scan guns, warehouse operations, and ability to work independently or with supervision as needed.

Description

An Inventory Specialist provides valuable support services and functions to the Operations team, ensuring customer satisfaction. We are looking for a candidate that has experience working with RF scan guns, tracking inventory, and knowledge of computer systems. These include receiving, shipping, and moving of a wide variety of office furniture within the warehouse for clients located in the Metro and surrounding areas. Acts as a team player and presents themselves in a professional manner. A fully qualified Inventory Specialist has demonstrated and is highly skilled in warehousing techniques, works independently or with minimal supervision and coordinates small warehouse related projects at the direction of others.

In addition, Warehouse Team Members must be willing and able to work at customer locations as business needs require. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, unloading and handling customer products and commercial office furniture, performing commercial office furniture installation and related services, and meeting all customer-required background screening and access requirements.

Responsibilities

Initiative—Demonstrates ability to work through active participation in daily responsibilities.

  • Arrives to work on-time and in uniform at start of day.
  • Actively seeks additional tasks upon completion of those assigned to them from Lead Installer and/or Supervisor and performs to expectations of job.
  • Provides suggestions/cross-training in a positive manner to other team installers.
Paperwork — Adheres to necessary processes to ensure accurate records.
  • Verifies own hours each day and through Supervisor/Leads sign-in sheets.
  • Assists in documenting change and damage during the warehouse process.
  • Understands and accurately completes customer's paperwork when appropriate.
Employee/Customer Relations — Provides effective communication/service to others and ensures following appropriate policy/procedures as designated by company.
  • Projects a positive and favorable appearance of themselves and of the company.
  • Accepts, understands and responds positively to feedback from Team Leaders regarding performance or other issues.
  • Respects other employees, clients and their belongings.
Tactical — Accountable for the following as assigned. Takes ownership and responsibility for:
  • Use RF scan gun to correctly receive and inventory product as it arrives to the warehouse
  • Equipment and light truck maintenance
  • Restocking cleaning kits, vacuums, and uniforms
  • Maintain warehouse as directed - trash, recycling, sweeping
  • Unload/load trucks and trailers and sort received products
  • Pull orders for customer projects; stage and prep office furniture for install crews
  • Prepare small and large shipments including pallet for shipping or pickup
  • Driving 26' straight trucks for local deliveries or pick-ups
  • Operate order pickers and forklifts according to Omni Workspace safety protocols
  • Twist, bend, squat, kneel, work on cement surface in a semi-heated area
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively in order to resolve problems
  • Maintains compliance with all organization policies, standards and practices
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications – Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma
  • 1-2 Years of furniture installation or similar industry experience, preferred
  • Preferred previous Continuous Improvement / Lean
Skills And Abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus on a task
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, preferred
  • Ability to occasionally work on an elevated surface up to 25 feet above the ground
  • Must have valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Adequate math skills, including reading tape measure count
  • Ability to lift and move product, up to 70 pounds, push up to 150 pounds
  • Previous experience driving forklift and order pickers a plus
  • Must feel comfortable working on a computer
  • Barcode inventory experience preferred
  • Experience with warehouse/shipping and receiving
  • Office furniture installation and product storage preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take direct and willingness to learn
  • Good mechanical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with members at all levels and in a team environment
  • Must be able to develop and maintain effective relationships through good interpersonal skills
