SFMOMA is seeking a Warehouse Associate for a part-time, temporary role in San Francisco. You will support the Museum Store by replenishing merchandise, assisting customers, and processing store obligations.

This onsite role emphasizes organization and teamwork with the store and buying teams. Responsibilities include inventory tasks, light lifting, and helping with online order fulfillment and in-store pickups.

Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent required; college coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in retail sales or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with hand trucks and pallet jacks is a plus.
  • Comfort using a computer inventory system and radio/walkie communications.
  • Ability to work well with the public and co-workers; punctuality and dependability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform replenishment of the sales floor multiple times daily.
  • Assist in preparing merchandise for sales floor, labeling, markdowns, and packing.
  • Maintain neat Store and Warehouse appearance; organize supplies and backstock.
  • Maintain back stock area in warehouse and off-site storage areas.
  • Assist in cycle counting and end-of-year inventory; support customer service needs.

Schedule:

Part Time, 28 hours/week, Temporary (3 months), fully onsite

Under the supervision of the Warehouse Operations Manager, the Warehouse Associate is responsible for assisting the warehouse team with processing incoming store merchandise, restocking the sales floor, responding to merchandise requests and in-store pickup, support of web store order fulfilment. This position is committed to keeping all workspaces organized and well maintained and to providing a top-level customer service experience for all visitors when engaged on the sales floor. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders within the store department including the sales floor and buying teams. Moreover this role directly contributes to the Museum Store by assisting the sales floor in providing a rewarding customer and museum experience.

In thirty days, the Warehouse Associate will have a general understanding of all aspects of the position. By the first quarter, the Associate will be fully confident in their duties. After the first year, they will be completely capable of carrying out all duties and functions with ease.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Perform replenishment of entire sales floor multiple times a day. Following the recommendations of the Warehouse Operations Manager and Museum Store Management team the Warehouse Associate merchandises the sales floor with new inventory as well as merchandise from the stockroom, back stock and understock.
  • Assist in preparing merchandise for sales floor, including labeling, rolling posters, markdowns, price changes, shrink wrapping and boxing.
  • Maintain neat appearance of Store and Warehouse by organizing supplies, backstock in cabinets, closets, and on shelves, straightening merchandise in store and displays, handling recycling/trash, helping move fixtures as needed.
  • Organize and maintain back stock area in the warehouse and off-site storage areas including exhibition related storage.
  • Assist in cycle counting, preparing for and performing end of fiscal year inventory.
  • Assist patrons with all customer service needs and keep abreast of the inventory to aid and promote sales as necessary.
  • Provide courteous, friendly service creating a congenial atmosphere on the sales floor.
  • Communicate problems and suggestions to supervisors.
  • Assist with other Museum Store duties including copying, filing, lifting cartons. Duties may also include ringing up sales at the register, bag and wrap purchases, verify credit cards and memberships.
  • Assist in seasonal tasks including but not limited to online order fulfillment and in-store pickup.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school or equivalent, college coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in retail sales or warehouse environment required.
  • Familiarity with operating hand trucks and pallet jacks a plus.
  • Ability to work with a computer inventory system. Must be comfortable using and communicating with a radio/walkie.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and with co-workers. Demonstrated punctuality and dependability. Ability to communicate problems and conduct constructive problem resolution.
  • Ability to work quickly and with a sense of urgency during busy times. Must be able to work weekends.
Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds, work in a close environment, and stand for multiple hours a day.
  • Must be able to work weekends.

$24.92 - $29.90 an hour

$24.92/hour (starting)

This is a union position subject to the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
