MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

The role of General Utility, Warehouse is responsible for having a thorough working knowledge of all Plant Material Control and job functions. Should have knowledge of applicable departmental equipment and systems. Some examples include: Forklift, Cambar, AMAPS and MITS. The Utility is responsible for line support, receiving, loading, unloading, creating bills of lading (BOL’s), assuming computer room responsibilities as needed, performing full functionality in the Shipping Office, while maintaining compliance to all GMP, safety, and quality guidelines. Also may involve some performance of preventative maintenance (i.e. monitor and respond to Plant and automation systems and equipment. Must meet all safety and housekeeping requirements. Must have the ability and leadership to cover operation in supervisor absence.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

For Receiving Operations:

  • Creates very accurate & legible documentation, performs data entry accurately, maintains all
  • applicable databases with needed information, and efficiently process inbound pallets through the proper process.
  • For Loading, Unloading, Casepicking, Barcoding and Palletizer Operations: Performs all tasks safely, assures accurate
  • documentation, follows all process procedures / guidelines, assures trailers are loaded to meet weight requirements, and
  • performs all tasks in an efficient & effective manner.

For Shipping/Receiving Office Functions:

  • Assure all documentation is accurate, address people in a professional manner, assure all databases are accurately maintained with timely entries, assure BOL's are signed/dated by Common Carrier Driver and the Clerk during the shift.
  • Maintains proper FIFO of finished products and FEFO of raw materials.
  • May include operations of a forklift truck with a push-pull attachment.
  • Stores, picks or assembles raw materials in the warehouse, verifying the commodity number, quantity, release status, and lotnumber.
  • Checks materials against packaging lists, invoices, freight bills or other pertinent documentation to assure conformity andaccuracy.
  • Delivers materials to production lines in a timely manner.
  • Maintains proper FEFO flow of raw materials.
  • Utilizes knowledge of both raw materials and finished product nomenclature.
  • Cleans up both raw material and finished goods warehouse areas.
  • Accountable for personal safety and adhering to the safety guidelines.
  • Must communicate safety and GMP concerns to Plant Material Control/Columbus Distribution Center leadership & follow up to assure the concerns are addressed.
  • Accountable for performing task that need completed in a timely manner or need expedited.
  • Must check e-mail at the start of each shift when possible to assure all directives are addressed.
  • Must communicate to all shifts as to status of the business.
  • Ability to make decisions based on awareness of the area operations is necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and maneuver objects of considerable weight (50 lbs). This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA (GMP), USDA, OSHA and Abbott Nutritional Supply Chain regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines.
SHIFT

6:00am to 6:30pm

Example schedule:

  • Week 1: Sun, Wed, Thurs
  • Week 2: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have experience using powered material handling equipment, including sit-down and/or stand-up forklifts, stand-up pick vehicle, electric pallet jack, etc.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills, analytical troubleshooting skills, ability to multitask, good team player
  • Self-motivated and possess the ability to perform with manual supervision
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of all receiving/warehouse operations, procedures, and requirements which are usually obtained through on-the-job training
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years’ job experience within Plant Material Control
