Job summary

Home Market Foods is seeking a Distribution Center Specialist in Norton, MA to support storage, handling, and distribution of prepared foods. You will work with Operations, QA, Production, and Customer Service to maintain quality, food safety, inventory accuracy, and on-time deliveries from the Norton DC.

This role involves coordinating shipments, ensuring cold-chain integrity, audits readiness, and maintaining key distribution metrics. Relevant ERP experience and MS Office are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or supply chain preferred.
  • Familiarity with refrigerated or temperature-controlled products is a plus.
  • Knowledge of GMPs or HACCP principles is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with ERP systems, such as Dynamics 365, is preferred.
  • Basic computer troubleshooting skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary communication link between production and distribution center regarding inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Verify inbound refrigerated trailer temperatures and cooling unit settings to maintain cold-chain integrity.
  • Confirm outbound trailer temperatures meet food safety and product quality standards before shipment.
  • Perform and document facility safety inspections to support a safe, compliant operation.
  • Organize pick sheets, bills of lading, and shipping documentation for efficient fulfillment.
  • Coordinate dock door assignments and communicate with carriers.
  • Support readiness for third-party audits and customer audits.
  • Maintain documentation including pest control and forklift maintenance records.
  • Monitor short-dated inventory to minimize food waste and assist QA with releases.
  • Maintain DC KPI and operational reports; verify orders for accuracy.

Help Deliver Quality Food Products to Customers Across the Country

Are you looking for a role where you can make a direct impact on the food supply chain? As a Distribution Center Specialist, you'll play a key role in supporting the storage, handling, and distribution of Home Market Foods' prepared food products. Working closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, Production, and Customer Service teams, you'll help ensure product quality, food safety, inventory accuracy, and on-time deliveries from our Norton Distribution Center.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced food manufacturing and distribution environment and enjoys coordinating the movement of products from production to customer.

  • Serve as the primary communication link between the production facility and distribution center regarding inbound and outbound product shipments
  • Verify inbound refrigerated trailer temperatures and cooling unit settings to maintain cold-chain integrity and food safety requirements
  • Confirm outbound trailer temperatures meet Home Market Foods' food safety and product quality standards before shipment
  • Perform and document facility safety inspections to support a safe, compliant, and audit-ready operation
  • Organize pick sheets, bills of lading, and shipping documentation for efficient order fulfillment
  • Coordinate dock door assignments and communicate with inbound and outbound carriers
  • Support readiness for third-party audits, food safety inspections, and customer audits
  • Maintain documentation including pest control records, forklift preventive maintenance records, and rack safety inspections
  • Monitor and communicate short-dated inventory to Customer Service to help minimize food waste
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to manage test-and-hold inventory and product release processes
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly distribution center KPI and operational reports
  • Verify staged customer orders for accuracy prior to shipment
  • Collaborate with Operations, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, R&D, and QA teams to support new product launches and item setup in Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Assist with sample order coordination for customers and internal stakeholders
  • Support daily shipment processing and inventory transactions
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in a food manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or supply chain environment preferred
  • Familiarity with refrigerated or temperature-controlled products is a plus
  • Knowledge of food safety programs, quality systems, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), or HACCP principles is beneficial
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or other ERP systems preferred
  • Basic computer troubleshooting skills preferred
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
  • Good vision and manual dexterity required
  • Occasional Saturday work may be required during peak production and shipping periods
  • Company-provided PPE must be worn when entering production and food processing areas
  • Exposure to refrigerated storage and distribution environments may occur
