Job summary

FITS is seeking a senior design-focused engineer to lead warehouse design concepts, layouts, and specifications within pharma/biotech facilities. You will oversee design execution through construction and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated, compliant solutions.

The role emphasizes optimizing material flow, implementing automation like ASRS/AGV, and aligning with site infrastructure and overall facility strategy. Strong GMP experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Supply Chain and 8+ years of pharma/large‑scale facility design experience.
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience in GMP or regulated environments and warehouse automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and coordination of warehouse design concepts, layouts, and specifications.
  • Oversee design execution across all phases (conceptual, basic, detailed design, construction support).
  • Ensure alignment between warehouse design, site infrastructure, and overall facility strategy.
  • Coordinate with A/E firms and multidisciplinary teams to integrate all warehouse elements.
  • Define and optimize warehouse layouts for receiving, storage, shipping, and special zones.
  • Collaborate with automation teams on ASRS, AGV pathways, and conveyor/pallet handling.
  • Act as the interface between Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality & Compliance, and Construction teams.
  • Support development of design schedules and budget alignment for warehouse scope.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Supply Chain and (8+) years of experience within the pharmaceutical, large‑scale facility design, warehouse or logistics facility design.
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
  • Shift: Administrative and according to business needs.
  • Experience in:
    • large capital projects (EPCM / Design‑Build environments)
    • Experience in GMP or regulated environments (pharma/biotech).
    • Warehouse automation systems (ASRS, AGV, robotics)
    • Material handling and flow optimization

AS A PIECE OF FITS, YOU WILL: (The day‑to‑day on the job)
  • Lead the development and coordination of warehouse design concepts, layouts, and specifications
  • Oversee design execution across all phases (conceptual, basic, detailed design, and construction support)
  • Ensure alignment between warehouse design, site infrastructure, and overall facility strategy
  • Coordinate with A/E firms and multidisciplinary teams to integrate all warehouse elements
  • Define and optimize warehouse layouts, including:
    • Receiving, storage, and shipping areas
    • Cold storage, flammable storage, and quarantine zones
    • Sampling, inspection, and support areas
  • Ensure design supports efficient flow of materials, personnel, and equipment
  • Collaborate with automation and robotics teams to design:
    • Automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS)
    • Autonomous guided vehicle (AGV) pathways
    • Conveyor and pallet handling systems
  • Ensure integration between warehouse systems and operational requirements
  • Act as the key interface between:
    • Engineering (Process, Utilities, Facilities)
    • Supply Chain / Warehouse Operations
    • Quality & Compliance teams
    • Construction and commissioning teams
  • Facilitate decision‑making and information flow across stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • GMP, safety, and regulatory standards
    • Corporate engineering and design standards
  • Support development of design requirements and ensure adherence to approved design intent.
  • Support development and management of:
    • Design schedules
    • Budget alignment for warehouse scope
  • Identify and mitigate design‑related risks (e.g., constructability, equipment constraints)
  • Construction
  • Resolve design issues and coordinate design changes with project teams
  • Ensure final design meets operational and performance requirements
