R.E. Michel Company, LLC in Kilmarnock, VA is seeking a Warehouse/Counter Service team member to provide fast, friendly customer service and accurate order fulfillment. You will answer calls, assist customers, generate invoices, and help load vehicles.

The role involves operating MHE, maintaining warehouse safety, pulling orders, processing paperwork, and ensuring products are billed and delivered correctly. Monday–Friday with some Saturdays; safety-sensitive; forklift experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency while operating a computer.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly customer service by following 'Customer First' standards, in person or over the telephone.
• Pull customer orders from warehouse and load into company delivery trucks or customer vehicles.
• Produce and complete accurate paperwork including invoices, CODs, special orders, vendor PO's, and shipping/receiving paperwork.
• Ensure all product leaving the branch is billed and collect payment via cash or credit card.
• Process, prepare and receive product shipped by UPS.
• Unload deliveries to branch by hand or with equipment and maintain MHE in good order.
• Maintain warehouse appearance and yard, verify order accuracy, and report discrepancies.

Warehouse/Counter Service – Full Time/Non‑Exempt – Kilmarnock, VA

General Summary: This position’s duties include answering telephone calls, servicing customers, using a computer to generate invoices, loading items into customers’ vehicles, and operating all branch material‑handling equipment while pulling accurate orders and delivering to customer locations.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly customer service by following "Customer First" standards, in person or over the telephone.
• Display positive attitude by greeting customers as they enter the branch.
• Ensure commitments made to customer are met/exceeded.
• Pull customer orders from warehouse and load into company delivery trucks or customer vehicles, or stage items for pick up while using safe material‑handling procedures.
• Produce and complete accurate paperwork including invoices, C.O.D.'s, special orders, vendor purchase orders, and shipping and receiving paperwork.
• Ensure all product leaving the branch is billed. Collect payment via cash or credit card and follow all money‑handling procedures.
• Follow procedure to process all customer returns and warranties on the same day they are received.
• Unload deliveries to branch by hand or using material‑handling equipment (MHE) and place product in assigned stocking areas.
• Ensure safe and efficient operation of lift truck or other MHE. Keep forklift in good working order and properly maintained.
• Immediately report damage, safety issues and accidents to supervisor.
• Perform all warehouse‑related duties including maintaining the appearance of the warehouse and entire facility (clearing debris, pallets and cartons, sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning bathroom, emptying trash, tidying shelves).
• Maintain appearance of yard and parking area by removing trash daily.
• Verify accuracy of incoming orders by counting before product is securely stocked on racking and organized/stocked correctly to prevent damage. Immediately report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Process, prepare and receive all product shipped by UPS.
• Use/maintain counter notebook.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Education and Qualifications

• Basic understanding of heating and cooling systems, parts and supplies is preferred, but not required.
• Exemplify excellent verbal communication skills with the general public and/or customers.
• Excellent attitude and interpersonal skills necessary to service customers in the branch, on the telephone or at the delivery site.
• Demonstrated proficiency while operating a computer and Prophet 21.
• Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions to accurately identify items.

Work Environment

Fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions. Requires frequent bending, climbing, moving, and lifting during physical loading/unloading of trucks and when stocking products. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday with some Saturdays (half day). This is a safety‑sensitive position. Successful completion of pre‑employment screens is required. Must be 18 years of age to operate a forklift.
